I prefer to hire the littles over the oompahs. They work for bread.
Seriously, when I port, I mix techniques. Dremel, file, sandpaper. Round file for sharpening chainsaw chain.. Whatever fits and gets the job done.. Sometimes I even drill then smooth up my work with sandpaper.
I pulled like two millimeters up on my transfer ports on my FA50, widened the exhaust port, ported the reed cage, and made custom carbon fiber reeds and hit 35 with stock air cleaner, carb (stock jets), and stock muffler.
A Graham Bell's modifying the two stroke book is a great resource. (edited)
