advice on an E-50 build

I want to build an E50 with low end power , off the line and

decent 25-30mph cruising maybe a little faster .

the catch , use parts I already have .

I have a k-star 70cc kit , treats reed valve kit and a magnum cylinder kit

along with stock setups .

I have a boss , tecno, magnum stock and Jammie pipe

rear rings I have the stock size 36? front I have several from 12-20

any thoughts ?

Stock sprocket? 36? Stock is 45. Put 12x45 gearing. And a kstart and the boss and you'll do just fine.

Re: advice on an E-50 build

I never took the time to research the teeth on the rear sprockets I have

the are off several different years and makes .

this is a runnabout ped not for distances.

Re: advice on an E-50 build

Word, Maize. Wheelie poppin' all day.

17-18x40-16x36 gears if you are using stock crank and techno circuit pipe

KEN DID YOU READ THE POST? GTFO!

Re: advice on an E-50 build

doesn't matter what the post is, every setup is the same

82 jet

1.0 mm timing

18x40 gears.

Yes I read the post Corn

Did I miss something like he has a AFTERMARKET PERFORMANCE CRANK .

If he has one he did not post that he did .

Every

Every

Everytime someone wants to run with stock or lower gears with a stock crank

I will try to stop them from ruining their engine unlike you corn so deal with it You (from your posts of e50 carnage ) don't quite have a formula or still learning ,experimenting, having fun which is fun . You think I sound like a broken record but these new posters don't think that . To me you sound like a broken record on these simple e50s that I've been working on since the late 70s. In fact some of the early e50s I did clutch work on had to have the cases split to change / tune the clutch. I like simple cheep to build low rpm engines that stay together perfect for noobs to get hooked on this wonderful hobby .

I do have complete hi rpm setups and pipes I can bolt on whatever bike I want and go as fast as I want I just don't post about it . 35 years of puch/ 2 stroke tuning not 3.5 years so just except it man I'm not gonna stop posting my easy setups for noobs .

Circuit /Estroil pipes are way faster off the line then a boss pipe.

It's my opinion a boss/ hi rpm pipe should never be used on a stock crank engine

Or the bushing will melt .

Trade or sell the boss to get a low end type pipe .

"I want to build an E50 with low end power , off the line and

Gramah, Tots matters dude bro.

This kid WANTS THE LOW END POWERRRRRRR!

Re: advice on an E-50 build

i was joking

he has a treats reed kit, hands down best torque of any puch kit. also completely indestructable, as in, you basically have to try to seize them.

treats reed

tecno estoril

VM20/weakends

16x36

mad torque, tops out around 45.

Has he counted the rear sprocket yet? he says stock 36. . .

Ken, its good your trying to keep kids safe. but your OP

"17-18x40-16x36 gears if you are using stock crank and techno circuit pipe" is miss leading, if this kid does that, he wont have the acceleration he wants and might be turned off even more. . .

while 17-18x40-16x36 is good gearing, its not for "off the line and

decent 25-30mph cruising maybe a little faster"

Re: advice on an E-50 build

Nice ! I have always wanted a post to do this !!

I have a performance crank to put in if needed but I want a low end power , not a performace bike . 5-25mph power ! I don't even know if I should use the reed valve 70 kit the non reed 70 kit or the magnum setup.

I like the input , thats what I was looking for people's experiance with different build components .

I saw gear it for wheelies, go smallest sprocket in the front and biggest in the back.

it will be high reving and youll be screaming, but it will be fun. i might not last a super long time. but youll have fun.

i had a polini with 12x45 and it would wheelie at about 20 when the power band hit. it would literally pull up until about 30. it was sweet, but got old after a couple group rides.

Re: advice on an E-50 build

Low end can mean 2 things:

Low RPM power - Treats reed kit, low rpm pipe like a circuit. Stock gears should get you past 30 easy. Maybe even taller gearing to make it more civilized at cruising speeds. It seems like you want this.

Low speed power - either that^ or high rpm power with lower gearing. If you go this route, your bike will accelerate faster, chug more gas, be more fun, be more annoying, and maybe a performance crank. Treats reed kit and the kstar will do this pretty well with a higher rpm pipe. A bigger carb definitely helps too.

I recommend the treats reed kit, circuit pipe, and stock gears. EDIT: oh yeah and your stock crank will be fine with that. (edited)

Re: advice on an E-50 build

mild case match, lots of compression, very thin base gasket? that'll help too.

Re: advice on an E-50 build

how come no one has said tune your clutch... that is one of the biggest things for low end.

Re: advice on an E-50 build

Probably Fred /

I wanted to say tune Your clutch with thick springs like kickstart springs 2 turns in from flush but every time I do corn jumps all over me.

This Newport L (see picture) I'm breaking in before I put it up for sale had horrible 1hp 13x45 gears. Its got middle of the road 19x45 (= to 17x40) gears on it now. With the tuned clutch and the new techno circuit pipe there is not much difference in the take off as you would think but instead of 35-mph with possible stock crank damage it goes 45-47mph at a nice quiet gas saving rpm.

Tuned clutch and a pipe with good all around power and medium gearing beats just low gearing especially when on a budget stock crank e50 build

Re: advice on an E-50 build

yup tune your clutch. it makes a world of difference.
