electric water pump

i am building a water cooled av10 and i am trying to figure out what kind of water pump to use, i know there are the polini kits out there but i dont want to run the pump off the engine and im looking for an electric pump, any sugestions of what kind and where to get it?

thanks

Re: electric water pump

how about a small marine pump? you could look at west marine

I dont know if it would work but I was thinking one day about building a cooling system and thought of using a circulation pump for a outdoor water feature. I thought it may run on 120vac and since I use treats cdi that puts out 60vac it would flow enough to work out proper.

Just throwing it out their, untested. Useless without cdi though, I think.

Re: electric water pump

Bosch Water Pump expensive but very reliable, I have some years on mine without issue.

Re: electric water pump

i think some vw vr6 engines used an aux electric water pump as well

Re: electric water pump

bumping this thread for some more reviews from people using electric water pumps.

What is your electric system like? battery storage? etc...

how large is that bosch pump? the specs have it putting out 317 GPH @ 2.5 amps, thats like 5 gallons a minute, for a moped engine it seems like alot but I just started fooling around in a water cooled way so what do I know.

Bump again to see what else everyone is doing for pump if going liquid-cooled. I'm slow building an A35 case, Parmakit 77cc with an 83cc stroke (stock Tomos). Just need to raise deck height about .260" to match conn rod length... Oh, and gringo ALOT! Haven't researched pumps or radiator so watching this thread...

WHAT IN THE WORLD DICK! KEEP ME UPDATED FOR REAL DUDE, that this going to a super blaster.

Re: electric water pump

I've run a malossi pump as well as the electric, I've stuck with the electric. The GPH isn't actually all the fast per minute and that assumes a un-restricted flow. Essentially the GPH reading is useless unless you have chart that tells you GPH vs Pressure drop that occurs in the whole circulating system. For the radiator look around for one half of a dirtbike setup in the 125cc range would do pretty well.
