Anyone try this? Pictures? Results? I know it's got to be difficult with the vertical split case, but going to try... Oh, A35 case...

hondas have vertical split case
I was just pondering this 2 days ago with A3 cases. It would be interesting to case induct right where that indented bowl is for the stock carburetor.
Same thing I was thinking. I have a riser for a Malossi doghouse and a 4-petal polini block. Gonna see how it all fits in that area on the top... Oh, and yeah, I forgot that Honda PA was vertical and case inducted...
so are Derbi's.
ive seen some dutch videos on youtube, one of the videos a guy made a case induction reed block on a tomos for a metra kit... not exactly sure how that works, but i've definetly seen someone use that carb recess for a case induction reed block setup.
yea, people do it in that little indented block area on the a35, might as well get a scooter kit though, otherwise its a waste of time and money, but now your talking lots of money anyway between the case welding and scooter kit.... might as well go water cooled too, with that scooter kit!!$$$!!!$$$
Hah... you're with me. I already have a Parmakit LC cylinder kit in the mail. Same stroke as the A35, 77cc, multiple transfers. Part of that case indent opens to the transmission, I believe, so I could use the whole indent as a mount, but only open the forward part. I don't have a split case right now so I'm going from memory. Just wanted to see if anyone else has done it. I seen the Tomos LC on the "Puch Water Cooled" thread...
peugeot and av10 are vertical split too.
im not sure if there is a case inducted engine that isnt.
maybe vespa?
Do this. tomos is boring because it seems like there is only 1 kit and 2 pipes. so few possibilities. I feel like most* tomos folks stateside have not been interested to explore beyond bolt on.
i support this project
Would it be possible (and advantageous) to convert A3 cases to case-induction, and then on a kit (say a Metra or Gila for Puch), block and seal off the cylinder intake?
Or am I skipping too far ahead of myself?
My uncle is a fantastic welder, and he's been wanting to help me do something a little crazy custom on one of these 'peds.
I also support this project. Im in tucson as well and will give you super discount rates on the tig work. Like free if all I have to do is weld.
Thanks Seth. I am a 64 year-old retired engineer from Raytheon Missile Systems. I love to tinker. Being retired, and with the past 5 years economic downturn, my savings have dwindled. Mopeds are something I can still "play with" on a budget. I've acquired the parts for a water cooled, case inducted, 4-petal reed block Tomos A35 motor and I have some first gear clutch ideas I've tried and need to develop further. I watch this site and will continue to post my progress...
gAwd i was thinking the same thing today tooo
I have some a3 cases here and a 4-petal reed block. Should I take measurements of anything? Also, anybody have any links to anybody's completed project?
Vertical split with added case induction:
That's a ZA50, but same basic idea.
do it man! others will follow! Tomos will be cool!
No, shit, its gettin' real! Here's a link to the top end I got. Note it's got 43mm stroke, same as Tomos. I'm sticking with A35 cases because I'm using an A35 racing crank which means you have to use an A35 right side transmission case. I've used A35 side cases on A3 motors, but they have different pins for alignment and, since the side case aligns the crank end bearing, I'd prefer to use the alignment pins.
That does it. Taking a set of A3 cases to my uncle's welder this weekend.
where is the link?
Soazrc, I'm sticking with A3 because I've got an A3 crank being pressed together by mopedcrankworks(.com) with an a35 rollerbearing rito conrod. I wanna do this to an engine that never had reeds in the first place, and I just like how hardcore and old school the A3 is. I may use A35 CDI, though, in which case the gearing and clutch will be the only real difference.
I'm also drunk right now and a little overinterested, so I'm posting to keep the conversation flowing. :)
Hopefully my iPhones autocorrect hasn't fucked me yet.
Sorry... Forgot to post link to the kit:
Damn dick, I just offered you free tig welding in tucson and got ignored.
dont forget you can put a3 clutch shoes on a35 hubs if you wanted to just run an a35 crank
aw, Clayy, I didn't ignore you. I've been busy on a bathroom remodel and just hadn't responded to everything. Anyways, I'm a REVERSE snowbird... I live in Arizona and go to Indiana for the summer. I'm leaving April 15 so won't be able to take advantage of your knowledge or your YIG offer. I have been watching your occasional posts with the mystery (airplane?) water-cooled cylinder and appreciate your expertise. Maybe we'll get together in the fall and compare projects. Sorry for the snub...
I feel much better now, thank you.
wonder what became of this build?
