Bing Slide Mod #24 Question

Matt Mahloch -- MBM Customs /

Im running a 14mm Bing with:

Main 70

Needle, 2 ring, second down from top

Atomizer 2.17

I have used the 24 slide, the 51 slide, and the modified 24 slide and its still a little rich right off idle to the point it sucks up hills. The clutch is tuned to the max. Im going to shave the slide a little more but wondered how far those of you doing this go.

It runs the same with my modified 24 slide and the 51.

Or should I widen the square at the back a little?

Yes that's what i do.

Do the thick side, and don't mouse it on the eng side of the pin..

The right side in your pic.

Leave the square alone.

Here it is.

Is this about how far you go with yours? It seems to run well like this.

Ya i cut mine to 80% to 90% of the with of the center.

It give it a nice snap when you rev it.

Now it wont be rich at idle, so you can run the needle richer for better mid rang power.

But you know that now,

Re: Bing Slide Mod #24 Question

That better not be my loaner slide you curly haired fuuuk

Re: Bing Slide Mod #24 Question

So you just angle the metal around the outside of the needle pocket on the filter end of the slide?

Stock on the left, with mods on the right.

Re: Bing Slide Mod #24 Question

Aha! I see what you did there. Much obliged sir!

You can cut the wage/slope on the slide back stepper, but the mod in the pics fix 95% of em.

Re: Bing Slide Mod #24 Question

Probably Fred /

You are kinda wasting your time but experimenting is fun though. run a 51# slide and a 222# atomizer best combo for a 14 mm bing. 72# jet and rich needle for kit or open port topend with pipe hi flow filter ect. Stock pipe, airbox ect I can't help cause they're junk and I pitch them

Re: Bing Slide Mod #24 Question

? ?????

But this mod works just fine.

roffman,

I'm sure your set up works great in the right application. I'm using a stock Magnum E50 that is ported. I made the transfers open (finger ported) and...

Intake 156

Exhaust 168

Transfers 124

Blowdown 15

it wouldnt idle with a 51 slide and 2.22 atomizer. With a 51 slide and 2.17 atomizer it idled great and had ok low/mid but with the midified 24 its real nice, pulls as hard as a kitted bike up to 25mph.

It wont rev with the one ring needle.

The only problem it has is that at wide open the exhaust sounds like its farting and it stops reving, about 28mph, it will pull through it to 35 then stop reving (the pull is slow). If I have a slight down hill it will pull to 40 then if the road gos flat it will hold that speed. I dont know, I might make a video and start a new thread. Maybe squish or ring flutter (pulling this out of my ass, I dont know). Jetting richer or leaner wont help, timing is at 19ish mm of flywheel rotation with CDI, maybe a bit much but with the finger porting the cylinder runs so much cooler its ok. BOSS pipe.

What ever.

Re: Bing Slide Mod #24 Question

Probably Fred /

Ya stock pipe is no good in my book though I modded a magnum pipe with a few more holes and I could go with more jet. The single-double slot needles are great. A pipe without a expansion chamber is a waste on a 2 stroke

You are correct on a stock set-up 14mm bing 51 slide 222 atomizer may not work. On a 12mm bing stock pipe-set-up it worked great when

my magnums were stock. If you got a stock maxi 2hp topend and a pipe like a techno circuit you could hit near 40mph with a 14mm bing. Angle pipes for a magnum cost a lot. Free speed

Re: Bing Slide Mod #24 Question

I'm relatively new at this but I just tried this out on a spare 24 slide and it definitely makes the throttle a little snappier off the line. 15mm bing, 82 jet, and needle 2nd from the bottom....idles real smooth. Thank for the pics Wayne!

Do this venture cut mod, for better mix & RPM's.

Re: Bing Slide Mod #24 Question

And cut the stock header down and weld it to the chamber or a bigger header id if running a kit.

Re: Bing Slide Mod #24 Question

Then cut three slots in the stock chamber and weld in a cone & 5" long 15mm ID stinger,

You need to cut the baffle in haft and use a screw to hold it in.

It looks stock but its not.

This stupid pipe mod give's some hit at 5K to 8K RPM's.

It tops out At 40+ MPH with 16X45 gearing with light porting on a stock cylinder.

And will do 46+ with a K-Star with the bigger 25mm ID header cut 1/2" shorter, running the bing mods.

Re: Bing Slide Mod #24 Question

Probably Fred /

I would love a sleeper cigar style pipe they could make it a little bigger and conceal the cones. that with a bigger header it would rip and no one would know

Bump. Will you please explain what you did with the slide to me? I am not seeing it in the pictures. I was always terrible at that game where you look at 2 pics and find slight differences between them.

Re: Bing Slide Mod #24 Question

Matt Mahloch -- MBM Customs /

At the top of the picture where the ramp is there is a half circle, look at the right side of it. You cut a notch with a small hand file. The slide on the left is stock, the one on the right is modified. Second picture. PM me or send a email if you need more info with your number, I hate trying to explain in text.

Re: Bing Slide Mod #24 Question

Luke “Funkenet” Hosfield /

I see it now. Thanks.

Wayne How did you make the cone shape and ridge for that venturi mod? I am about to go into one of these with a dremel but I think there is probably a better way.

Re: Bing Slide Mod #24 Question

--> Jason Kluczyk Presents: Jason Kluczyk /

question, both slides above have marked 24, but the modded pic is the right one?

Does that rectangular opening on the other side make any differences? cause the modded one is smaller then the un-modded one. Attached pic of the part that I'm talking about.
