SSXL + EBR = Sweet Ride

So i took my be loved SSXL and decided it was time for an update in the ride quality dept. took some pretty life altering mods to make them work, no chance of being stock ever again. 25.5in Puch EBR inverted forks, http://www.treatland.tv/puch-maxi-EBR-black-inverted-forks-p/puch-ebr-forks-inverted-black.htm break>

the frames head tube needed to be cut about a 1/4 inch shorter, i did the bottom to effectively lower the front end a bit, and the make the tube the proper length, for the forks tube to be properly bolted on. not really write up status yet, but this bit of info and my pics for proof and showing what happened and where its at now, should help, if you were ever wondering about fork options for your Garelli.

man, the link and image codes for this site are right next to the box where you keep copy pasting your bad code. take a second and do it right.

SSXL + EBR = Sweet Ride

OK sorry for not getting back in a day or two, the album link worked when i posted. let me do them individually.

Re: SSXL + EBR = Sweet Ride

so I'm going to order and describe h\now that i got a free minute, and have this boards format down. sorry bout all that crap.

this is looking down the head tube after removing the old forks before grinding out to make the new bearing races fit.

cut the head tube shorter to make enough threads from the fork triple to be able to mount them securely.

head tube ground out to fit the bearing race, you need to do both top and bottom like this and keep checking for fitment, a smooth snug fit is the best. over do it and your screwed.

test fitment for amount of threads through the head tube, with the new Puch races installed.

triple top plate installed, should have taken a pic with the forks the other direction, sorry.

bars and front wheel on, yes that front wheel is off a 2001 Avanti/Garelli super sport, (wider spoke wheel, bigger brake hub and shoes, much stronger stopping power.) lucky i had it laying around, much easier fitment than putting the stock spoke on.

close up, break hub side.

new luisto throttle, levers and grips on bars.

overall, completed.

sorry the images are so damn huge. right click and view images individually, for better sizing.... not sure whats going on..

Did you square up the lower end of the head tube to the top?

Because that cut is crooked and the bearing will be loose one way and bind the other....that is a good way to go if you have no welder as long as both ends of the head tube are square to one another...If you have access to a welder use the factory bearings and tread set welded to the EBR's..

Looks good
