so today i was helping a friend of mine fix his 50L. we decided a hardwire was in order.
i followed all the usual steps i normally do as per my wiki entry
so, we stripped off all the dumb shit like switches, zener diodes and horns and such, and wired it all up nice and pretty
when we went to start the bike, almost immediately the lights blew. ok...thats weird...
well now the bike wont start because of the lights.
nbd, replace some bulbs
well these bulbs are all 6v, as the bike is a 77. the tail light after some jiggling was able to come back on, was bright as the sun, then kaboom. blown
just for laughs, i went down to the local gas station and bought a pack of 1157 12v dual filament bulbs
i twisted them in thinking at worst they would be dim, but to my surprise, the bulbs started glowing as if they always were supposed to be 12v
when i say that they were bright, i mean damn son, they were bright as fuck, only this time, even at high rpms, we COULDNT get them to blow.
SOMEHOW...SOMEHOW....we had converted the entire 6v system to 12v with a simple hardwire.
someone step in now...i need to hear some thoughts on this
