It's important to compare temperatures measured in the same location. Measuring beneath the 'plug is the most common method for engine head temp's. Each engine will vary in temperature according to the state of tune. Ambient conditions DO effect readings. The sensor junction on the 'plug T/C's is on the tang where the wire leads exit. Air blowing over the tang is cooling your reading. Best to insulate the tang at the junction with a high temp silicone sealer to reduce the possibility of inaccurate readings.
