First off, thanks for the input, keep it coming!
theknack1986: I've been messing with the idea of getting the 19mm race PHBG and a new intake, good input Those Bennesar pipes are something I'm going to have to consider. I think I'm leaning towards a custom pipe vs. an 'off-the-shelf' simply due to the (often) superior construction and bike-specific performance. My points are very reliable and have allowed me to go pretty fast. I'm looking at CDI units since they're a little more...modern haha and as preventative maintenance in the case that the points do start acting up.
nvtarzan: The V1 Polini is not like other 75cc kits (e.g. Puch) in that it's not as...crazy. While it won't push 75cc Puch hp #'s, it's torquey, reliable, and still able to go fast. The Mikuni is too big for my application. I'd definitely consider it if I were racing. Gas mileage is nice! 60 mph on a V1 Polini would take a lot of modifications haha, sacrificing reliability.
michaelt: So the ID of the intake on the cylinder is actually 17mm? Damn...I didn't know it was that restrictive haha. If I do end up going with a 19mm race PHBG and new intake I'll definitely match it. When you "open it up", are you just matching it to the intake or are you porting it all the way through (affecting port timing, etc.)? Also, do you know a place who sells an intake for this that has a 19mm ID and works with a spigot-style carb?
powerchair: Gearing is also something I've been thinking about. One thing about my current gearing that I love is that I can literally put around at 35 mph while still having torque at hand. I rode a whole tank conservatively like this before and I averaged 80 miles to the gallon! My current gearing also limits the bike from revving out too high, which in my mind will prolong the life of the internals (except the clutch haha). I have a 9t front sprocket I might put back in when the bike's done, but I was thinking about getting a 10t. Do you think that'll make a nice difference from the 11?
