I had a similar issue with a new kit. I was having to pull so hard on the clutch to get it to turn the engine that I wore a deep irregular channel in my starter plate and I had to replace it. It's the new rings. They will wear down a bit and the compression should drop enough to make it not so difficult to start. Shouldn't take long. At least that's what happened with mine. Good luck.
