i have several thicknesses of gasket paper, i once carved a base gasket out of a pizza pan. had too much piston in the exhaust port at bdc.
i am a big fan of the motor oil thing, and i have a fancy vintage oil dropper to do it with. sometimes i will "butter" both sides of a gasket w/ heat and oil resistant permatex rtv. i use the "super grey" for the case, and for various gaskets. super grey permatex is heat resistant up to 500 something i think. "highly oil resistant" and "for high torque applications" <--it says that on the pack. never had any probs. i take my top end off pretty regularly tho so this shit may not last.
on my next build, i am planning to try the indian head shellac shit. all the old school dudes say it's the best.
