i just wash them out really good before i put them on. most stock pipes dont have a ton of carbon buildup at the header really. right at the mount yeah, but after that theyre generally just kinda ashy.

think about the amount of carbon in an engine anyway, it wont hurt if theres a little in there. i just try to get it so its clean to the touch.
