FA50 build - 60cc kit on its way!

Hello all!

I'm finally posting details to a build that will hopefully at least get me to the 40MPH area on my FA50. I'm doing a complete rebuild of one of my three starting very soon... I plan on tearing it completely down, rewiring the harness and even having the frame powdercoated.

I also wanted to spread the news that I found a supplier for a 60cc kit. My first kit is on it's way from overseas. It is not the parmakit that nate runs but appears to be the same specs. The diameter jumps from 41mm to 45mm which should give me about a 9% gain. I'm also going to be running a high compression head from Aaron.

Wheels will be trued at a local bike shop and looking at NR77s for tires. Obviously foregoing fenders, just hope they aren't too wide.

Also running a custom gauge cluster and adding a fuel level sensor. New speedo was tested last summer for accuracy. It goes up to 60mph.

All signals will be LED based as well.

Does anyone know where I could find or have made a custom intake manifold? Also I'd love to hear what people think would be a viable carb setup for this. I plan on somehow implementing a tuneable filter since the FA50 is so needy when it comes to the right amount of air.

Feel free to follow my mischief here:

I'd love to hear ANY input on this project.

Cheers!

Motomatic, Mike Thomas & Motion Left Mopeds could all help you out with that intake manifold. Others, too I'm sure.

them are some big ass pix!!!

Re: FA50 build - 60cc kit on its way!

Whats the source for the kit?

Donde? Donde?

Re: FA50 build - 60cc kit on its way!

you want a tunable carb not air filter. get the jetting right and air filter doesn't matter. i would run a 16mm -21mm miki depending on how nuts you want to build the rest of the bike.

Re: FA50 build - 60cc kit on its way!

I'm going to be honest about this one. I've tried every bike shop around the world until I found a cache of these things. This includes Quarterkick and the rest. After getting little to no response for about a year I scoured for months. Finally getting to sites that I had to translate by hand... Google translator would only do one page at a time. The shop owner ultimately did speak broken english and is very nice. I expect this to work out, although the gains will remain to be seen.

The first kit has been paid for, in the event it actually shows up I'll let people know. There is still a lot of testing and research to be done. I may grab a dozen kits to resell myself, haven't quite decided.

Cheers!

Re: FA50 build - 60cc kit on its way!

if you can bring a kit into the states that no one has seen before, do it. even if it requires a business loan, just do it!

Re: FA50 build - 60cc kit on its way!

Also keep in mind I have at minimum 4 bikes to tune. How stupid would it be to buy a racing carb for the first one where I can jet on the fly. It will cost a lot more, I just can't imagine pulling the carb 30 times getting it right...

Re: FA50 build - 60cc kit on its way!

Tom,

I agree, just have to make sure it is what it's supposed to be, almost too good to be true. I was also told this kit is not street legal across the pond either.

:) Made me happy.

Re: FA50 build - 60cc kit on its way!

Yeah, especially if there are language barriers to deal with you are going to want to make sure its legit.

Keep us posted. The FA50 has been damned to slowness for far too long.

Re: FA50 build - 60cc kit on its way!

Will do!

Hey, you're a MadMoped member eh? I get your txt updates. I think we're going to come up for a ride this Summer!

Re: FA50 build - 60cc kit on its way!

I got confirmation that the kit has shipped this morning at 3am.

PUMPED.

Re: FA50 build - 60cc kit on its way!

All that comes to mind right now is an acronym.

O.M.F.G., the kit came and it's identical in every way to the stock cylinder. Unlike nate's supposed exhaust flange issue, this thing is a BOLT UP. A Fucking BOLT UP!

I will let everyone know prelim gains when I can get time to put everything together.

Re: FA50 build - 60cc kit on its way!

Go for it.

Re: FA50 build - 60cc kit on its way!

Bring it over. Let's hit it with my carbides and die grinder.

Re: FA50 build - 60cc kit on its way!

Dude, let another Wisco kid in on the source.

If this works out proper its going to make the FA50 way less useless.

Re: FA50 build - 60cc kit on its way!

.......No third transfer :(

Re: FA50 build - 60cc kit on its way!

wait, its just identical to the stock cylinder? in every way? i thought you said it was 45mm?

Re: FA50 build - 60cc kit on its way!

It is 45mm. I meant the casting.

Re: FA50 build - 60cc kit on its way!

Nate, it's there, just a bad angle on the camera phone.

Re: FA50 build - 60cc kit on its way!

I will take a bunch of quality pics soon. You can see all the differences.

Re: FA50 build - 60cc kit on its way!

Also, look at the piston, the 45 means 45. ;)

Re: FA50 build - 60cc kit on its way!

we need to clean that up before you bolt it up. please.

Re: FA50 build - 60cc kit on its way!

the simo hits to high for a stock cylinder i wonder if it would work better with a kit?

Re: FA50 build - 60cc kit on its way!

Yeah me too, I have a simoni in a pile waiting for a kit.

Re: FA50 build - 60cc kit on its way!

Matt, do you have dremel?

I don't mean to keep everyone waiting, my life has been chaos. This kit is in it's box sitting on the trunk of the car that's torn apart that needs to get me to work.

Soon!

Re: FA50 build - 60cc kit on its way!

Die grinder with several carbide burrs. Dremel is a waste on cast iron. I used it to clean up the KSTAR on the 79 hobbit.

Re: FA50 build - 60cc kit on its way!

So how's it coming along? Your site seems to be password-protected, so that didn't help much...

Re: FA50 build - 60cc kit on its way!

Sorry dude!

gnuloco.com/fa50

I have multiple bikes being built right now. The one with the kit I GPSes at 40. Lots of work yet to do.

Cheers!
