Derbi Intake, Check it

I have one of those 25mm intakes for a flat reed to run the bigger reeds. Anyone who is familiar with them has probably dealt with the shitty cast quality of the part. I had to re-tap the holes because I looked at them to hard and the bottom seating area wouldn't seal properly, slightly warped. So after having material welded to get a better grip with the new threaded holes and sanding the bottom it worked. I still needed another one for another engine and rather deal with it again I made this out of some scrap metal I got from onlinemetals.com

Re: Derbi Intake, Check it

I sanded my intake and reed sealing areas on a piece of glass yes you should square and true the parts.

Re: Derbi Intake, Check it

Re: Derbi Intake, Check it

Re: Derbi Intake, Check it

Making more?

Re: Derbi Intake, Check it

After I get the welder set up. The guy i've been using is going to help me learn so I can do it myself. Once I get back from Inverness I'll get some gas and start practicing. I still have to make a top plate, drill and tap some holes. I'll make one for you Ed

Re: Derbi Intake, Check it

Nice work dan

Re: Derbi Intake, Check it

wow, nice job. since you went that far, you might as well make the carb mounting plate yourself too so it makes the carb sit level. then you can still run the plastic cover and nobody will know the insanity that lies beneath it.

Re: Derbi Intake, Check it

Thanks guys, I got a little discouraged when I started cutting and the aluminum was laughing at my old jigsaw. I got medieval on it with the Ryobi. I also learned to cut slow to save a blade from clogging. I'm doing the plate after I get back from Inverness then it's testing time.

Re: Derbi Intake, Check it

great job dan! can't wait to ride with ya once again

Re: Derbi Intake, Check it

Cool.

How is the clearance when its in the frame?

I hate how cramped it is in there.

Very nice Dan.

Looking forward to riding with you this weekend.

Re: Derbi Intake, Check it

Awesome dan. Thanks :)

Re: Derbi Intake, Check it

manifold looks good, i'm a bit confused though...

about the motor, i know its a flat reed, but where's the pedal shaft. even the flat reed revolution motor i've seen the countershaft doesn't look like that. just curious.

Re: Derbi Intake, Check it

Its not hard to make the pedal disappear :)

Re: Derbi Intake, Check it

Colby,if you saw Toni's Revolution motor it's one I got from overseas. They are a little different from the US Revolution motors. The euro models have gigantic transfers and a little different stroke length.

Re: Derbi Intake, Check it

Here is the gasket on a ... old skool variant.

Re: Derbi Intake, Check it

i've got access to my own revolution.... and its got a sprocket that bolts onto the shaft with 2 bolts

Re: Derbi Intake, Check it

Thats how they roll :)
