Does anyone have a cylinder temperature gauge they can recommend for a two stroke?

Trailtech vapor Speedo/Tach/Temperature computer. You have to buy the computer and sensors seperately because none of the prepackaged setups match a moped. Nice system, runs about $160 with everything you need.
i've seen some people running little stickers that heat-color-change for a rough estimate, otherwise, for what you pay for a stand-alone solution you can get a IR heat gun that you can use all over the place.. not so much while riding however.
true players measure temp from the spark plug washer, thats the most accurate to what's really going on.
I used a infared bungeed to my frame successfully for a long trip a few years back, but I want to get to upgrade.
Hey Paul you are present. Nice to hear from you. I bought a $12 pyrometer off ebay and soldered a copper sparkplug homeade washer to the sensor end
hi scoobie- sounds like a good idea! this year i'm trynig to get to the arctic ocean on my QT!
I have a TrailTech Vapor setup that computes speed, rpm's and cyl head temp. It works really well and looks nice too. You need to use a real thremocouple setup to get accurate, real-time temp readings.
They offer several types/sizes of thermocouples that can be bolted directly to the head and or use the plug, which is what I have.

What are the pieces that you need?
You need the computer, a speed sensor and a thermocouple for temp. They have a bunch of different sensors available and so you need to figure out what works with your particular bike. I put mine on the Extreme Urban Express.
Due to the high bars, longish forks/frame, and the way I wanted to conceal the wire routing through the frame, I had to buy an available extension wire for the TCouple. You have to make a brkt for the speed sensor and mount a magnet in/on the wheel. They have kits with a variety of assorted magnetic bolt or glue-ons available. I used the front whheel for mine. The tach is just a wire wrapped like 6-8 turns around the plug wire, very simple. TCouple goes under the plug. I also bought the easy mounting bkt and had it mounted to my crossbar in less than 5 minutes.
You can buy a kit for another bike or quad, but you may not get all the parts that work best for your application. I bought my components separate (a bit cheaper) and the first speed sensor didn't work for me so I returned it for another for only shipping. They were pretty cool in working with you with good customer support.
This is a deluxe upgrade for any bike and gives you real-time mearsurements that are invaluable for 2-stroke performance engine tuning (pipes, ports, carbs, HC head, etc.), jetting and driveline variator/clutch tuning. Anything else is just a guess.
Thank you for all the info, so far it seems pretty simple of what you need when I looked trough it except the speed sensors seem a little confusing. Which one ended up working for you?
basically all you need is the computer, tach sensor, speed sensor, and temp sensor, plus however you want to mount it right? Just want to make sure I am not missing anything stupid.
thanks for all the info btw this thing seems like a nice all in one package.
I searched for the thread and I can't find the parts list I used and had some pics of the brkt. I'll look around at home on my laptop. I did find this thread though, not much help for now.

my buddy bought a cheap thermocouple that hooks right up to a digital multimeter. only thing is it doesnt read out like "160*F" or anything like that. it has some sort of scale, so itd display between 0 and like 5ish was the hottest he got. he siezes his metrakit all the time and he was actually able to correlate the heats to his siezures... we'd cruise and if he got above, say, 4.5 for a few minutes hed call the sieze and bam itd happen.
so thats a pretty easy way to do it but it dont tell you actual temperatures. if you were to take one heat reading, though, with a thermometer at say 2.5, then its linear so you could figure out the scale and know that when it reads 2.5, yer at 150 or whatever.
I think I found your other info on this thread. Thanks again for all the info. Lots of help.
You got it! That should answer all of your questions.
Paul, you could always convert to a water cooled cylinder---email me if you are interested. Ya gonna build a mosquito net for your bike?

Dedicated digital temp gauge. Looks super simple. Only $45!
same gauge on ebay or treats for about 40 shipped.
its the shit!
I use this for tuning but not permanantly mounted. Any hobby shop should carry something similar
I have tried one like the post above but it doesn't work as fast as you need it to. It is very slow to increase and decrease temp readout.
