Carb boring help please?

Alright, so I've successfully bored a 10mm to a 12mm. But when I went out and purchased a brand new Irwin 9/16 drill I've ruined 2 carbs. This bit grabs very badly and will either tear the carb from the vice, or stall my drill press. It does not matter what speed I run the drill, how much pressure, or how much oil I use. As soon as the drill contacts my work it grabs hard. I assume that it is because the drill is too sharp. Is this just a bad drill? OR should I punch some holes in some steel to dull the cutting edge a bit?

Thanks!
