I matched my exhaust port to the header on the Proma GP when I installed mine, so I can't speak to the benefits of doing so. You should just do it, it's easy with a dremel. While you have the cylinder off you can clean out your dirty exhaust port and try to make it smoother, and make sure the intake port lines up with the actual outlet from your manifold.

Then sand your stock head down a bit while you are at it.
