Best set up for variator and clutch to pedal a 103

Hey guys, I just got Peugeot 103 and after searching I am still confused on whats the best set up for the drive line. The motor will be nothing crazy if that matters, probably stock with carb/pipe for a while before kitting it. What I'd like to do is still be able to pedal it. I saw clutchless and clutched variators and corresponding pulleys on 1977 and treats, but I cant tell whats better in my case. Also it seems like launch levers are popular... any advice? Is pedaling this thing totally ass backwards or is it still and option with performance parts?
