i think it was in grahams book that i read to have a 1.5:1 ratio, effective cylinder volume to crankcase volume.

The larger/smaller crankcase area can have a great effect on how it runs.

Take for instance stuffed cranks...they decrease crankcase volume...and with proper tuning they can increase your power output. I noticed a huge difference in power changing out the cranks on my puch.
