The Tomos A55/A35 Intake Manifold Project...
As most Tomos A55/A35 owners already know... The market for larger intake manifolds for the Tomos engine is quite limited... In the case of the A55, the only way to get a high flow/high perfomance air intake manifold is make one yourself... So, being the enterprising person that I am... I am planing to custom build a series of larger intake manifolds for the A55 and A35 engines...
-Metra Kit 80cc
The purpose of this posting is to gather some information as to what design would there be the greatest demand for for the meantime... I suspect that the A55 Airsal head would be most benifited by a larger intake manifold... so, I plan to start there...
What I need to know is what configuration most need or prefer... that is to say...
- what type of carb do you have?
This is the most important question... each carb has different specs and dimensions. The mounting system for the PHVA carb and the SHA carbs are totally different. I have never seen a 24mm flatslide so I have no idea how large the mounting flange is... does it use a plastic sleeve like the SHA carb? I need to catalog the different pipe sizes if I am to make any prototypes...
- do you have pedals or pegs
A peg bike could have the carb sticking out on a 90 degree angle but a pedal bike would need to have the carb mounted out of the way of the pedals... what would be prefered? forward facing (180 degree bend) or rear facing (two 90 bends with the opening facing toward the rear of the bike). Is it possible to mount the pedal arms on extenders?
- do you have electric start?
This limits the carb to right side mounting only...
- do you want your carb to fit side engine cover?
Are you looking for a descret & integrated look?
- do you want your carb sticking out?
Do you want you carb to stick out Steampunk Style?
The A35 intakes are much easier to fabricate then the A55 ones... Since I don't have access to all the different Tomos models to make measurements I will need Tomos owners on MopedArmy to help assist in this project.
What I need most is practial advice, measuments, size preferences etc...
do you want color? paint? powder coat? chrome? zinc plate?
What size is your intake port?
The list goes on and on.... Help me out guys.....
What do you guys need in an intake manifold pipe for your Tomos A35 or A55 engine?
