peugeots use an off gauge chain stock. Its a slightly lighter gauge version of the 415 chain. I'm guessing ur problem is the 415 chain u have now won't seat all the way down onto the sprocket because there is a plastic step to the inside of the teeth and the diameter of it is just a bit too big. You can either get the proper chain (1977 has it on a roll and they use it on the 77 team race bikes because of its very light weight but its not durable) or you can just run the chain you have slightly off the cog and then tension it up pretty tight, after some riding the chain will wear in the plastic on the cog and it will then fit properly, this is what most peugeot people do and it works fine.
