Anyone out there ever made a custom tank?
I'm looking at a free spirit frame and thinking I could slap a small motorcycle tank on there and it could be pretty gnarly, what do you guys have for me?

All you need is a proper cap and a cock at the bottom. No leaks and mounts are just icing on the cake. If you have the first two things you can make a tank out of just about anything that's metal - metal pipe with caps on the ends, a mini keg, washing machine, compressed air tank, hot water heater, whatever.

I'm looking for a custom tank - or any kind of tank that will fit under the long seat on my Maxi. All i need is a metal box about 12"x6"x6".

Under a long seat, that would be a pretty small gas tank, there isnt much space to work with once you put a seat on there.

As far as gas tanks go, I've seen some pretty gnarly ones made out of fire extinguishers. You could even just bolt/weld on a fire extinguisher bracket (or two if the tanks are small), and have removable tanks. You would have to add a fuel outlet, but thats easily taken care of with some creativeness.
I've been wanting to make a cafe racer using one of the long jawa step through tanks. The only problem with that is that the filler cap would need to be relocated.

I like the idea of a fire extinguisher, those old ass silver ones seem like they might be a little large. but I'm putting it on a freespirit frame, so I've got some room to play with.
