How to make a Moby ridged

I want to make my project Moby 50v ridged. Anyone know how this was done?

Re: How to make a Moby ridged

Scooter of IRE turned the 50V into something Hard you see

Re: How to make a Moby ridged

What I am wanting to know is if the ridged back end of a 40t and be "bolted" to a 50v

Re: How to make a Moby ridged

Ridged? Like a Stegosaurus?

Re: How to make a Moby ridged

Remove shocks, weld in 1/2" thick mild steel to replace it. Weld all the bolts on and then weld a seat. If in doubt, weld. That way it won't be too light.

Re: How to make a Moby ridged

Have you actual just taken a minute to look at both frames? If you had then you would know the answer. Also why would you want to do this? Rigid 50v I'd not any sexier, just a lot more uncomfortable.

Yikes so many typos in my post.

Deal, I will give you guys a call on monday.

Re: How to make a Moby ridged

do you live in the hood? just drill some hole in the shocks and put bolts in there. or better yet, drywall screws. no, not really. just bolt some plumbing pipe on there instead of shocks.

Re: How to make a Moby ridged

I heard Viagra has been known to make your moby rigid.

Re: How to make a Moby ridged

don't do it unless u strait up get a 40t frame. the desirability of the hard tail moby is solely due to its aesthetic appeal and lightweight, by converting a 50v you won't get either and will sacrifice handling performance.

that said 50v's look good even if you don't go rigid. just take off all the shit on them.

51v's aka travelers look even cooler:

note the rear shocks on the yellow traveler on the far right mount at the seat post unlike the 50v's that mount on the rack giving the bike a much more aesthetically appealing stance when stripped down.

But the 40t hard tail really is an attractive moped:

No frame whatsoever where the shock would be just like a modern bike.

Re: How to make a Moby ridged

Rigid Mobies cant turn fast...

Re: How to make a Moby ridged

Both of those are mine, and started as 50V's. I made them both rigid.

To answer your question, no, you cannot bolt it on. It's an all cut and weld operation. After all is said and done, you end up having to hand make it all.

Re: How to make a Moby ridged

hows that bike fork workin on that last green beast? id be affraid of bustin rims, and blowin seals or ripping the brake disc off, especially with the extra weight

Re: How to make a Moby ridged

Paul you are right on bumpy roads. I seem to recall a bluish blurr way ahead of me in the twisties at TWBS. I think there was suspension on it. Also some crazy dude who knew a thing or two about racing.

Re: How to make a Moby ridged

nice conversions. Yeah I tried to race a hard tail peugeot during one of the polini cup races and it was a total failure, I crashed like 5 times, no suspension = no grip

Re: How to make a Moby ridged

Yeah.

I sold that bike for a grand 3 months ago and got it back for almost nothing about 2 weeks ago.

Its all about the entry and the apex on a moped there isnt enough acceleration to make a difference on the exit... so fast brakes and suspension make a fast race bike.

That being said someday I wil have a RIGID Moby.

Re: How to make a Moby ridged

"there isn't enough acceleration to make a difference on the exit…"

ride our race bike and tell me that lol. I have to be super precise with the throttle on the exit or it low sides every time when the rear tire breaks loose.

On one of the switch backs the front tire sometimes leaves the ground just a hair and I have to steer completely on the tail end. try doing that on a hard tail.

Re: How to make a Moby ridged

damn, someone beat me to it!

Re: How to make a Moby ridged

Elliot you are riding bikes in a totally different league from what Paul and I ride. 40s may be worthless on a race track but they are so pretty and fun on the road. I would love to ride what you are racing it sounds like a total blast

Re: How to make a Moby ridged

ridged is good on a drag track and for looks. other than that please never do it. idk about circuits but since gp bikes have suspension i would guess that its a good thing.

Re: How to make a Moby ridged

rigid le moped

Re: How to make a Moby ridged

o i almost forgot if done right they are light and a ton of fun .

Re: How to make a Moby ridged

Re: How to make a Moby ridged
