anyone have any or attempted?
i've got a really good one but no scanner. High 40's with great torque on 15 bing, probably would be doing 50 on a bigger carb.
i'll upload the photos in a second here.
awesome man. thanks.
Go find Jamie Leslie, I built 2 metra 65s for him before I left, he may have one apart you can look at.
I hit 53mph GPS on this portmap with a 19mm phbg and a stock cigar exhaust. I'll bet you could go faster with an expansion chamber. Not all the power is in a good portmap though. You need to be able to tune other stuff.
haha, thats actually the exact same port map i have, i think... mine is measured from the top edge for calculating it in degrees....
oh yeah, transfer 'eyebrows' too... it makes a big difference on torque, methinks.
Thanks strongar!
strongar: what was your gearing?
16-45 on that setup. 12000 rpm.
hows the low end??
god damn. maybe i'll try that map on my trashed cylinder and have somebody re-bore it
So its pretty much just like stock but you did some widening? I just did some measuring and they are the same...
Anyone raise and lower the ports on this shit?
proma circuit pipe 3 inches chopped of end before silencer
19mm phbg 40 idle 104 main jet
gearing 17 - 36
murrey swing-arm 2.50 back tire
stock clutch - tension about half way screwed out
3 shoe ran about the same
piston even with bottom of exhaust port (you have to add one more small gasket
case matched - treats race crank bearing seals..
slight bog if you full throttle from start
no bog if you give it a second or two and be easy from start
takes a minute to get going (gearing ?)
low mid 50's
any suggestions on how to make this take of with out bogging and rip from the start?
i figure if i change gearing it would bring the low end back some but the slight bog at first gets me, i have been checking for leaks and all that. i have built a few bikes and gone through most of the normal obvious first issues
raise needle
35 pilot jet
i have the needle on down from top
that main jet sounds way too big.
that main is big i have a 65 mrtra with a 21 on it ported to hell and i am only running a 86 main and a 36 ideal so you might have an air leek or it is real real cold where you ride
lower your idal speed tell it just barely runs on the stand have the e50 hot then start spraying with carb cleaner i know you think you dont have an air leek but i have had like 10 peds come over with the same problem to big of a main jet and a bogy top end and still a slightly lean plug and it ends up being some small air leek
Not saying this is the method you used or anything... This was sold on here a couple months ago and i found it intriguing.
the 65 metra comes with spacers. im assuming what he did was just make ONE spacer to take up the space instead, and have the right transfer sizes.
And the piston is skirted differently to allow for the last little bit of exhaust or intake duration to leave or enter the cylinder, depending on which side of the piston it is on.
i think you'd only want to do that on the intake otherwise you could short circuit the charge through the exhaust. that crescent increases intake duration and you don't have to chop up an "expensive" cylinder.
The extra metal spacer raises the kit to sit where I wanted it.
And the piston was trimmed up for longer intake duration for mach ten speed.
