1996 tomos TTLX clutch

I picked up a Tomos top tank lx over the weekend and i have noticed that it takes a few seconds for first gear to shift(it feels like it is functioning properly and everything) but im just wondering if anybody out there has found a solution for this granny shifting going on?

Thank you to everyone that has helpful input,

Owen

Oh, you can make it shift very hard, but it will destroy stuff.

Re: 1996 tomos TTLX clutch

well i would like to know how to or if you can "tune" the clutch so it shifts harder but not to the point where i will be breaking stuff left and right

Re: 1996 tomos TTLX clutch

two ways of increasing the shift is by increasing the surface area of the friction material, and increasing the rate at which the clutch engages. Experiment with those via different friction materials, and different spring rates. Also experiment with different fluid levels.

Let us know what works for your setup, and get back to us.

I appreciate your advice man and i will experiment with all of those and write back..However this is my first Tomos and i am new to the moped world anyway so i have to tear into the tomos and see how everything works so give me some time

any further advice would be appreciated also

Thanks,

Owen
