Derbi Laguna and TJT

So I just put a 65cc Parmakit on my piston port Laguna, starts right up and sounds great, but...I also put a TJT variator on and it doesn't seem to want to fully variate...I had this variator on my variant and it was fine and it definitely moves back and forth freely on the main pulley...any thoughts?

thanks.

Are you running different weights than the variant? Was the variant kitted? Did a weight or 2 get lodged funny between the variator and ramp plate?

Re: Derbi Laguna and TJT

No, same weights, variant not kitted-just pipe, bigger card, and pyramid reed...and weights are not lodged...

When I first got the TJT I put it on the Laguna and had the same problem, even trying a variety of different weight set-ups, however I figured with a kit and changing out the spring on the rear drive pulley I would be fine...

Re: Derbi Laguna and TJT

play with your weighs some more?

Re: Derbi Laguna and TJT

Put the stock spring back in. That spring that it comes with is useless. Also the lightest weights are still really light. Might have to make heavier ones if it still doesnt variate with the stock spring.

Re: Derbi Laguna and TJT

Unfortunately I'm still rocking the stock pipe which I'm sure isn't helping either...but will try the stock spring and different weights...

stock spring for sure. I ran tjt and I thought I was good, but then went back to stock and it was amazing. Heavier weights too.

Re: Derbi Laguna and TJT

Did you make your own heavier weights, and if so how?...or did you use the heaviest ones that came with it...

know anyone who has stock 6 roller weights? Those are super heavy, or you can fill the holes with solder.

Re: Derbi Laguna and TJT

The TJT weights are as follows:

Lightest= .09

Medium= .10

Heaviest=.12

The Metrakit pipe w/blue baffle comes with White weights= .14

The Metra weights rip! You can make a set by filling the heaviest TJT weights with JB weld and dremeling into the JB weld to balance them to .14

TJT springs suck... after a month of wear it was squished flatter than my old stock Derbi spring...

Metrakit sells a loooonger spring that's super springy and works great!

Re: Derbi Laguna and TJT

Nice info..

Stainless steel springs never flatten btw. :)

Re: Derbi Laguna and TJT

Fratbone-I don't understand about the weights weight? I want to get some of those white weights of the same weight, but the lightest set available is 2.6 grams. are those measurements correct?

Re: Derbi Laguna and TJT

Fratbones measurements are in ounces.

.14oz = 3.9 gr
