Tomos Top end issue

Frostback Ditch /

So my issue I'm having with my Tomos (99 TTLX, with the A35, 70cc Alukit, Techno Estoril, stock carb with high flow filter, 71 jet) is it runs perfect all through the rpm range, shifts fine with only a little 4 stroking (break in period), but as soon as it winds up in second gear and reaches about 45, it bucks and feels like it simply cuts out. It starts slowing down, and no matter what throttle position I move it to, I may only get a few pops out of it until it slows to about 35-40. It did this before with stock everything, biturbo and a 54 jet. Ideas?

I'm not sure if this thing is restricted in some way, but it's kinda annoying. Thanks for the advice.

running your float bowl empty? or restricted cdi?

I wasn't sure if mine came with a CDI or not, guess I should look. The float bowl should be good, but I do remember reading about restrictive CDIs. How would I go about getting around that? If that is the issue of course.

Re: Tomos Top end issue

actually i more of sounds like your running out of gas temporally. a restricted cdi just makes you hit a wall and you can't rev any higher. it doesn't slow down your revs just stops them from going up. i would clean your petcock, fuel filter, and if all that doesn't work your carb and mess with the float settings. the corner should make a 90Degree turn although idk about dells only miki and kehin.

Alright, I was planning on doing a good carb clean soon anyway. Thanks for the tips :).

So, it turns out it was to large of a sparkplug gap. What should the gap be set at?

Re: Tomos Top end issue

I believe it says in the manual it is 0.5mm.
