has anyone done any special porting on a stock flat reed top end?
are there any gains to enlarging the "boost" port, or 3rd transfer rather?
also who has a really ripping modified 50cc derbi?

just drill out your weight a lil bit and get a 50cc zen pipe and you'll be flyin'
i had my pyramid reed derbi doing a quick 42 with very minor porting on the exhaust (raised it 1.5mm), a 15sha, tjt and modified bi-turbo.
Necro bump...
There is some info in here:
Hey how are these cases resembled? Is it just with the oiled gasket? I have one flat reed here that is assembled but with Yamabond only, no gasket. What has been found to be the best way to seal the two halves? I have a new gasket for this new build but seeing another case not built by me sitting on the bench is making me nervous. Noob question.
you need the gasket for shimming. that poor flat reed.

accurate
Stock Piston port Derbi
Tjt variator
19phbg
"Gigantor" chamber
19x24 gearing
52mph with no real loss in low end

Cool, but I guess I meant do you put sealant on the gasket before assembly? Do you put oil on the gasket before assembly? Do you assemble the engine dry with nothing on the gasket?
Look,
Everybody seems to do it differently and or has tricks that they use for better success. I have assembled only about 10 engines in the past. Some with gaskets, some without.
As far as the Derbi goes, I need to figure out what is the best way to seal the two halves together while using a gasket. Thank you guys.
I used Cambodian breast milk Todd, trust me it works
Okay, well what a usesless thread this has been. We got a thread jacker, Ryan talking about a diffrent motor, some old posts that refuse to talk about the flat reed motor or porting...
Oh and a few comedians.
IMO flat reeds dont really need much in the realm of porting, they go pretty good stock with the restrictions removed and a decent chamber.

Will it might have helped the thread if the original poster had.
Posted some pictures.
Explain what his intentions of performance gains were.
Posted some information as to what his plan full setup was surrounding the cylinder.
So I'm going to go with the Cambodian breast milk.
I think Amazon carries it now.
Oh wait they stopped carrying groceries you'll have to get it at Whole Foods
The op's post was an open ended question about FLATREED PORTING.
He wasn't saying, "Check out my porting. Tell me what you think."
He did kinda open it up to any 50cc derbi at the end.
But you are still an asshole. Unless you are a troll account, you don't get to troll with a 12 day old account.
You can literally copy what I posted and apply it to a flat Reed and go 50. You don't need to Port the cylinder.
Do I smell butt hurt, sniff sniff, yeah somebody's thin-skinned.
And I'm not trolling I'm groom'n (edited)
i mean, do the regular stuff. widen ex. raise ex. i'm sure there are some good holes you could put in the piston. lots of room on top. make more boosties?
Derbis do better with not insane exhaust durations and blowdown. 10k is really where Flat reeds seem to like to be. that in mind I leave them in that range.
on metra 47 I do 180-185° exhaust and try to get the blowdown of around 18°, on a single exhaust port smaller displacement top end I'd probably go more conservative and less revvy at 170° and 15-16°. Other than that just widen as much as you feel comfortable and get the squish real on point around 1mm. Should be broad enough power.
as mentioned they're pretty great even unmodified and all that time might only get you 2 or 3mph but, such is life ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (edited)
Andy what exhaust system are you using to be running that low of a blow down.
Seems to me that must have a pretty low back pressure.

spanish race pipe. You are right, I looked at my port map and it is a higher blowdown by about a degree (edited)
you just can't help but give away your troll accounts, wayne

Yeah it seem a pinch low usually 18 degrees is the starting point for proper blow down on single-port exhaust with a chamber.
Is the top of it flat for 12 or 14mm
