A35 piston in a Korado?

Has anyone done this?

The A35 piston is within a hair of my Korado piston. Korado piston has boost ports, A35 has slots for reed induction. A35 skirt is shorter. I had thought of converting to reed induction by either building up the cylinder or cutting out & shoeing in the tomos reed housing. Any thoughts?

I'm guessing the timing will be off at the least...possible disastrous explosion looming? Any thoughts...

try it. I've got a spare a35 piston and a korado cylinder, just not the means to test right now. Let me know!

A35 piston in a Korado?

I've heard you can use the tomos piston ring on a korados piston, so it may be close enough. Throw it in and let us know if it works.

Re: A35 piston in a Korado?

Alrighty then...

Guess I'll throw it on the test bed.

Re: A35 piston in a Korado?

piston wont work. but the ring on the korado piston will.

a35 has a window in the piston right.... if it does. it wont work you will lose all the charge.

but if you take the ring off your a35 piston and just put it on the korado piston. then there ya go.

Re: A35 piston in a Korado?

I had put some thought on that Drew, but then why doesn't the Tomos lose charge?

Standard Korado has the tiny boost ports in the same spot as the reed window. I dunno...it's worth a shot.

BTW...Original piston is trash city!

The Tomos doesn't lose charge because it is a reedvalve cylinder. You can run more intake duration on a reed cylinder because the reeds won't allow it to have blowback, unless you try to run something like 360deg timing with really light reeds. You're going to blow your charge right out on a piston port cylinder like the Korado. Let us know how it goes.

Attempt #1 FAIL...

Hooked it up to das schwinger last night. She repeatedly fired up, but wouldn't stay running. I'll play with the jetting and such sometime this weekend and give it another rip before calling this myth...busted!
