Puch clutch 2 shoe with Blue springs

Can anyone advise on initial setting when replacing the stocks springs with the Treats blue springs? I was thinking since they are stiffer I would simply replace then and set the clutch screw flush more or less where it was with the stock springs. Anyone have any experience here?

Re: Puch clutch 2 shoe with Blue springs

i got the blue springs in my two shoe. i screwed em in about flush like the stock ones. they are grabbin good.. a little early tho. i would screw em in a little more than flush tho especially if your runnin a kit. 2 turns out from all the way in is the max

orange springs. all the way in, one and a half turns out.

Re: Puch clutch 2 shoe with Blue springs

15 lbs tension per shoe works for me but that might be a bit conservative for some

Re: Puch clutch 2 shoe with Blue springs

now see I've used a torque wrench on setting these before and it would not click, even all the way down it would not get tight enough to do it. So I assume you are not referring to the torque on the screw but on something else. Right?

hey steve how did you measure ft lbs?

Re: Puch clutch 2 shoe with Blue springs

I put a loop of wire through the self locking pin in the clutch arms and use a fish scale to pull it and note the poundage when the pin hits the stop. Before that I take the arms off and grind balance them on a balance beam scale. Foot/pounds I use a piece of tubing over a 1/4 inch drive ratchet long enough to be 12 inches from the end to the axis of the ratchet. Apply a postal scale to the end of that 12 inches and whatever the scale reads is your foot/pounds. Real accurate

By tubing I mean lightweight pipe like conduit or maybe even 1/2 inch copper plumbing pipe
