if its the stock style cdi it doesnt have a mark on the stator....had the same issue...and the rolling back the piston and setting it is very inaccurate. to do it CORRECTLY AND ACCURATELY you need a piston stop, degree wheel, and adjustable timing light. otherwise your measurements are not only a crap shoot but also have no true frame of reference. take your time and use the proper tools.
