when is it time?

Is there a bench mark to put in new pistons and rings?

I just put 2000 miles on my metra kit and was thinking about taking a look at everything and possibly replacing piston and rings.

Re: when is it time?

It depends a lot on the cylinder. Are you noticing a loss in compression or and increase of blow by on the side of the piston?

Re: when is it time?

I have not noiced but I ride 40 miles everyday and like to keep my stuff running pretty effecient.

Would I notice the diffence on the plug read if there was blow by, because the plug reads are still good and pretty consistant.

I thought it would be more common to replace pistons and rings intead of the whole kit, preventive medicine.

I have not looked into the cylinder yet.

thanks for the imput
