noob installing Dellorto 15.15 on E50

Basically what the title says. That's what I'm doing and I'm having trouble. I just got this dellorto and manifold from treats, and I'm instantly lost on how to install it. the manifold wont even fit into the carb. Mostly just wondering why that is when I bought them together. Also, it seems like everything is going to be backwards to a way that's convenient (as in idle screw will be on the other side, where it's difficult to access, fuel line will have to loop around carb etc). That's not a big deal, I can work with it, I just wasn't expecting it.

I know these things aren't designed for E50 engines, but I was led to believe it should work. And besides, most of m issue is with the manifold/carb not agreeing. Can anyone explain what I'm supposed to do about this? I was so excited about this change from bing to dellorto, and now I'm at a standstill.

I know the answer is going to be absurdly simple, but I still really appreciate it. Thank you.

Re: noob installing Dellorto 15.15 on E50

Did you get the chrome looking intake? It should slide right on with the 15sha as long as your carb has the shim.

Re: noob installing Dellorto 15.15 on E50

the manifold is chrome looking. would the shim be the white-ish plasticy thing in the sha?

Re: noob installing Dellorto 15.15 on E50

Yep that's the shim. It should slide on to create a snug fit.

Re: noob installing Dellorto 15.15 on E50

Maybe I'm just not strong enough, but it seems like no matter how much forcing, it's not going to fit. However if the shim was gone there would be way too much space, so it obviously should be there.

should I just really try and force it? I don't want to break anything.

Re: noob installing Dellorto 15.15 on E50

take the shim out of the carb and see if it will slide over the intake. Is the carb tightened down and your trying to slide it on?

Re: noob installing Dellorto 15.15 on E50

It was not tightened down. I did end up forcing it apart more, taking the shim out and putting that over, then into the carb. I now can't tighten it down, and it's on there incredibly tight. I hope I'm not fucking everything up.

don't samd that shim! airleak city., you did good by getting it super tight, just make sure the shim is pushed all the way as far as it can go. just like sex, tight =good

it wont leak if you do it right. and the shim isnt fitting if he has it all the way in a the two pieces wont fit together to let the bolt slide through to attach it to the intake.
