I'm thinking about replacing my tires with sava (or sawa on treats haha) white walls. Except the tires I had before were stock 17" and all I can find are 18" ones at treats and 16" ones at 1977. Hmm haha are these tires any good in the first place? I'm also wondering if I can fit either of them with 17" tubes (or 16" tubes for 16" tires) on my motobecane's spoked wheels. Thanks!
Nope, you cant use 16's or 18's on your 17" rims. What you can do is get up with moped central for 17" whitewalls. http://www.mopedcentral.com/forsale.html These are the only readily available 17's in the US.
The 17's posted aren't Sava brand btw. They're probably comparable though.
Aw I was afraid of that. $95 dollars for a pair seems ridiculous. By any chance would 2.75 x 17 tires fit? Would that be too wide or is there reason that wideness should be avoided? Ah I'm asking quite a bit. I guess I can go buy some ranger tire paint if push comes to shove.
I have 2.75 on my magnum. If they clear your swingarm and fenders (if your running them) you should be fine. It will handle different because of more rotating mass.
Wider tires will give you more grip on the road but skinnier tires add a bit of speed. What I'm doin on my mountain bike when I converted to a street bike is out a wide tire in the rear and a slightly skinny tire on the front. May do my trike aswell.
Ranger paint did not work for me on new tires, I posted about it.
spoked wheels are skinnier to start with than mag wheels so you cant really go bigger than 2.5 on a spoked wheel.
