Stock puch piston boost window

Hi, I have a 50cc tccd kit. Piston has a boost port window in it. I broke the piston ring the other night on a ride, and I had a stock piston with a dykes ring. No boost port window though. I put it in, and went from 55mph with my current setup down to 41gps'd. I cant believe what a difference it made, I am wondering if anyone has ever cut a boost port window in a stock cylinder. Should I match the measurements of the boost port on the other piston, or can I widen it and raise/lower it just like with cylinder porting? Should I be able to see the boost window at BDC through the intake port, or should it be competely hidden? It wont rev out like it used to. Cylinder walls are perfect too, so its gotta be the piston. Here's my full setup if it helps...

50cc tccd ported and matched w/modified piston

16mm phbg

bullet pipe

tuned clutch

18x45 gears

Thanks for the help

Re: Stock puch piston boost window

why wouldent you just replace the ring???

Re: Stock puch piston boost window

I will. But this stock puch piston is a dykes ring, the tccd isn't. I just want to see if I can make it work. Or I'll just wait till the tccd piston ring arrives from treats.

Re: Stock puch piston boost window

i would wait...

Re: Stock puch piston boost window

Great idea

Re: Stock puch piston boost window

If the TCCD kit is anything like the KSTAR 50, the boost port never opens up, it's just for show. I say cut yourself a nice window and give it a try!

Re: Stock puch piston boost window

55mph on 50cc and a bullet pipe? i feel like someone who's able to get that setup to 55 would know better then to put a stock piston in as a replacement.

Re: Stock puch piston boost window

I'm not sure but isn't the dykes ring pistons for the cast iron cylinders and the TCCD a nicasil lined cylinder, i'm not saying that that would make the difference but it might. as well the make sur that the pistons are cut the same way i think the dykes ringed piston may have a longer skirt.....just some food for thought

Re: Stock puch piston boost window

Yeah it does have a longer skirt. About 4mm longer. So the boost window should show at bdc? It seems like I've heard the opposite. But I can enlarge that window if it will serve it's purpose by being open at bdc in the intake port.
