Just use locking pliersto get them out and now use Allen head bolts to replace them

Re: Are intake and exhaust studs the same?

Allen heads are convenient but i dont like the idea of screwing and unscrewing bolts into the cylinder and risking stripping it out. What I did was just go to Lowes and by a pack of m6 1.00 bolts and use a socket and ratchet to bolt them in tight then cut the heads off. Cost all of $1.29. Then you have new studs and can use nuts again and just risk stripping the nuts and studs and not the cylinder when removing carb or exhaust.

Re: Are intake and exhaust studs the same?

You could always helicoil the cylinder, then use the allen head bolts, but $30 for the helicoil kit, and then the time and effort to do it right...

It's nice to have the helicoil kit around if you ever NEED it though.
