treats 70cc kit? Kstar?

Baltard Drought /

I was browsing the puch kits out of curiosity, and noticed they had a kit/head for $120. 7cc, after taking a closer look it looks to be a k star kit.. Is this a blaster kit with all high end, I read in the 50cc threads that the 50cc kstars are blasters. im not looking for a race bike, I just prefer the sound and feel of 70cc. Is this kit going to have some decent bottom end?

Re: treats 70cc kit? Kstar?

If you prefer the sound and feel of 70cc, why are you looking at 50cc kits?

Re: treats 70cc kit? Kstar?

Conrad Conrad /

Well if you tune it to have bottom end, then you'll have bottom end.

Re: treats 70cc kit? Kstar?

as a general statement , the piston ported kits like tha airsal, the kstar and the tccd, metra...all those kinda lower priced kits have LESS bottom end then the reed valve kits like the Athena, but its all in what you tune it and gear it for.

get on the wiki and read read read

You lack reading skills. Read that again, maybe a little slower.

So what your saying is with some good tuning, and gearing it properly I can get a reliable kitted bike with some good low end pull?

Re: treats 70cc kit? Kstar?

yep

maybe read the issues folks are having with the kstar 50cc kit not haveing much low end

look in the wiki under performance there is a whole thing on kits /cylinders

metra 65 is a good safe kit for newbies with good low end.

Re: treats 70cc kit? Kstar?

I have AMAZING low end. It's all about knowing how to tune your bike.

gearing - 15X40

now by knowing how to tune do you mean my carb as well? or more towards knowing what my powerband on my expansion chamber will be and gearing the bike properly for a good smooth line?

Re: treats 70cc kit? Kstar?

You have to know how to tune a carb to tune at all. I'm not saying you don't know how to tune, I don't know you. But if you don't know how to tune a carb, you should delay buying a kit.

Re: treats 70cc kit? Kstar?

Well I already have a kit because of my old moped but the write up on the dellorto i wasnt sure if all moped carbs were basically the same for tuning.

Re: treats 70cc kit? Kstar?

70cc k-star! is was my first kit! Love it! over 1000 miles and 3 rally's

Re: treats 70cc kit? Kstar?

the kstar is a good and safe kit for a beginner, too.

just remember to chamfer!

I have built a couple of these and help build 3 or 4 more. they are nice kits.

The new "for the people" one as opposed to the one that came out a few years ago have some interesting difference. none the less. it's solid.

Re: treats 70cc kit? Kstar?

i have a couple hundred and mine without chamfering.

Re: treats 70cc kit? Kstar?

wow was that english? ^ I meant to say, i have a couple hundred miles of mine without chamfering.

Re: treats 70cc kit? Kstar?

Hahhahaha, Its ok erin, How do you like it honestly? any words of wisdom or warning?

Re: treats 70cc kit? Kstar?

rebuild your motor with new seals, bearings, and a con rod. use good oil. 19mm phbg, boss pipe

Re: treats 70cc kit? Kstar?

Baltard Drought /

Im going to be honest, I'm terrified to pull apart the motor... its working now and to be honest im still learning, maybe after I get my pug all done as far as taking apart the cas and such goes... I'll give that a try, maybe just a new air filter and pipe will be what I do for now.. I don't want to break it.

Re: treats 70cc kit? Kstar?

if your terrified to tear your motor apart you shouldn't be kitting.

Re: treats 70cc kit? Kstar?

Baltard Drought /

Seriously? I JUST said that. READ.

Anyways, Maybe I could find a case somewhere To try on and if I fail, I still have my engine. whammy.

Re: treats 70cc kit? Kstar?

DOnt get too frustrated there dude, this is the performance section, and these people get the "what jet do i use for this kit" every single day.

Sometimes the more gregarious and patient people hang in the gf, and they might be less driven to insanity with this.

Performance posters here are much more likely to encourage you to do your homework.

Just an observation

Re: treats 70cc kit? Kstar?

dont waste money on a kit if youre not gonna do it right.

Re: treats 70cc kit? Kstar?

Im well aware. I want to learn more about the timing and just learn more about my moped in general before cutting up a case.. Do it right the first time you know? Its not that I don't want to, Its that I want to know a little more about it before I do, I've started to read in the wiki, the "how to rebuild e50." so it making this a little less scary, But I still think I may get another just so no matter what I have a working engine for this bike.

Re: treats 70cc kit? Kstar?

Baltard Drought /

and thank you to those who gave same amazing advice. Any sources for cases to practice on? I was thinking of doing my pug in a new case and learning that way?

Re: treats 70cc kit? Kstar?

ill sell ya a whole e50 email mail me

Re: treats 70cc kit? Kstar?

yeah, i followed the rebuild guide on wiki and everything worked out just fine. also make sure you have a manual.

Re: treats 70cc kit? Kstar?

Your kinda a Dick for someone who needs Help!

Re: treats 70cc kit? Kstar?

Baltard Drought /

And you kinda posted without reading the post. Not trying to be a dick, but dont assume that im a retard and not actually read the post. I'm trying to learn but making my moped useless to me is not a way to learn.

Yea I think its time to hook the good 'ole printer up and print one out.
