Re: SHA air filter problem

The bing is better then the sha... that's my 2 cent.

Re: SHA air filter problem

can u run bings on minarellis?

Re: SHA air filter problem

SHA's are sensitive to air filters. You have to down jet to compensate.

Re: SHA air filter problem

Yeah, I'm running no filter. Even a simple pantyhose won't let me get above 10mph. I kept the black cover on it and positioned it close to the frame. So far no dirt or large stones... joe

Re: SHA air filter problem

airsal 70 / boss / 16/16 SHA

Re: SHA air filter problem

yeah i think you have to really down jet. I had mine with 2 screens and it was at a 87 jet. it runs great but won't idle. so i put some foam in there. i'm at a 75 and still super rich, gonna try a 70 and see what happens!! my buddy was running pretty good with the stock filter set up at 72 and still rich!!

Re: SHA air filter problem

the minarelli kit said to drill 2 holes (3/8" I believe) in the air box for my setup. worked great.

Re: SHA air filter problem

Your piston isn't upside down is it? Sounds like you are running too lean if it bogs that bad at the low end...

Re: SHA air filter problem

what kind of air filters have you tried? the airboxes can be drilled out, like i mentioned. the little cone shaped caps can simply be removed, and wire used to hold the screen in for better performance sometimes. foam filters should be oiled.hi flow paper filter pods pretty much just mean you gotta work with the jets. I've run my Puch for years on many a long trip and rally without any filter whatsoever, with no problems - knock on wood.

Re: SHA air filter problem

I'm running an 80 on my setup. It seems that If I have to down jet below a 70 it would decrease performance. I would be all game to hang a big unifilter on it but its way too close to the frame to do anything. With the small filters I would only be able to run it wouldn't breath very well especially with the gas blowback.

Re: SHA air filter problem

My roommate was having similar issues and it turned out he put his piston in upside down (like chrisr said above). Shine a flashlight through the spark plug hole and make sure the arrow is pointing towards the exhaust, NOT towards the carb intake.
