77 puch newport all stock, looking to kit it.

yeah i have a 77 stock puch newport. im looking to kit it, but i have no idea what kits work with this, or where to look at that matter. a few web sites , and kits that would work, information on pricing and the most mph i can get out of it would be helpful too. right now with everything stock. it runs 25, depending on the conditions while riding. i have gotten it up to 32. but i'd like to go faster. im willing to drop the about the kit is worth too. i know you can't do much without rebuilding the engine. thats ok. i want to. just hit me back.

Okay, first, don't start with a kit. Start with a pipe. If you get a performance exhaust, you upjet your carb, and get a high flow air filter, you could probably get to about 30 for a normal running speed. Doing that will give you some experience with adding performance parts, jetting and tuning your carb, and if you match your cylinder's exhaust port to the new pipe, porting. After you've got that all figured out, if you're still not happy with your speed, then get a kit for it, and a bigger carb to complement the kit. I'd do it in this order because you're going to want the pipe when you kit it anyway, and because the pipe is harder to screw up than the kit.

You _can_ do it all without rebuilding the engine, but if either (a) your engine really does need a rebuild, or (b) you're putting some serious performance parts on it, then yeah, you probably should rebuild it.
