1978 exprress ---auto choke

is this possible? can i scrap the manual choke and somehow kit-on an auto choke? has anyone done this?

Re: 1978 exprress ---auto choke

Sure it's possible but why would you want to do that??

Re: 1978 exprress ---auto choke

i am just not a huge fan of the manual choke. i have never used an auto choke on a bike and just curious about what it would take to do it. i realize auto chokes can be a a bit picky but nonetheless , just curious.

Get an auto choke carb, head and vacuum lines and you done. But again why?

They suck imo.

The Express's auto choke is a bit hard to keep going. You'd have to do a lot of work to swap it on, and a lot more to keep it working properly. You might be able to swap an entire carb off of something like a Spree though that uses an electric auto choke. Otherwise I suggest keeping the manual.

Re: 1978 exprress ---auto choke

Why would you want to use an auto-choke when a well tuned bike will start with one or two kicks on a manual choke?

I use the original AC on my Std 1983 NC50 Express just because I'm trying to keep it original. It works good so why not keep it, but I wouldn't go out of my way to adopt one.

Re: 1978 exprress ---auto choke

the auto chokes suck ass... they get gummed up and quit working.

Re: 1978 exprress ---auto choke

The choke plunger busted on the manual choke on my 79 express II. I use a plastic baggy to start it. What up now?
