Athena piston skirt modification

im thinking about modifying my piston skirt on my 70cc athena reedvalve kit. how much should i take off and what are the possible ill effects?

Re: Athena piston skirt modification

I cut the skirt on it to the same level of the piston near the pin (as if the skirt wasn't there) left about 1/2" or less at the bottom of the skirt.

Not much downside to doing it, gained a bit of top end speed, didn't lose any bottom end.

The pic on the wiki shows how it should look:

Re: Athena piston skirt modification

what about booster port enlarging?

Re: Athena piston skirt modification

I enlarged mine by making 2 large ovals instead of 4 small holes. It felt like it lost a little bit of bottom end but didn't gain much. I'd just leave em alone in the future.
