CALLING ALL FAST HOBBIT EXPERTS

Yeah, Ok, sorry to have to 'sound the alarm', but I cant figure this out. I am running a Polini, a proma cirtcut and performace reeds, I notched the variator and I have PA 50 I weights.

Been riding fine for weeks then:

PROBLEM: when I go WOT, it sucks all the gas out of th carb. SO I changed the stock carb out for a PHBG..SAME THING

Ive changed fuel lines, filter, no filter and Im now draing the gas tank in hopes of some blockage in the petcock...but I dont really think thats it, it drains fine.

Please, if you know whats up let me know, going 50 then slowing down back to 25 for the float to fill up- is such a buzz kill!

Re: CALLING ALL FAST HOBBIT EXPERTS

weird, never had that problem.

try loosening your gas cap, maybe your getting a vacuum in your tank.

Re: CALLING ALL FAST HOBBIT EXPERTS

did that...and changed the petcock...no luck yet...

COuld it be a bearing seal going at high speeds?

Re: CALLING ALL FAST HOBBIT EXPERTS

possibly, but i dont really see why that would affect the gas flow from the tank. maybe your float is sticking?

Re: CALLING ALL FAST HOBBIT EXPERTS

oh wait, you tried two different carbs. nevermind.

Re: CALLING ALL FAST HOBBIT EXPERTS

yeah, this just came OUT OF THE BLUE, I had been riding WOT for weeks! I really cant figure it out!!

Re: CALLING ALL FAST HOBBIT EXPERTS

Wayne brings the date times /

if your bike is still idling ok, i doubt its a seal. seals arent that noticable when you have the bike running, but you wont be able to get the bike to idle.

Re: CALLING ALL FAST HOBBIT EXPERTS

man it idles like a dream, fires right up.... Its this bad boy right here

I think Davey might be on to something, the gas cap has been acting funny, like Ill come out and see gas seeping around the cap, yet the gas level is BELOW the cap by a good 3 inches...perhaps it IS a vaccume...but I cant be sure...Its a Pacer tank...

Re: CALLING ALL FAST HOBBIT EXPERTS

drill a hole in the top of the cap.

email sent....

Re: CALLING ALL FAST HOBBIT EXPERTS

what is up with all you guys making these hobbits look so nice? its starting to make me sad.

Re: CALLING ALL FAST HOBBIT EXPERTS

Sounds like the gas cap. Sweet ride!

Re: CALLING ALL FAST HOBBIT EXPERTS

I think it was the cap Davey, I took it off and cleaned it and it works good so far... I think it wasnt sealing right and/or breathing right....

Re: CALLING ALL FAST HOBBIT EXPERTS

definitely sounds like the cap, good call davey :)

Re: CALLING ALL FAST HOBBIT EXPERTS

Man Im stumped, Iv ran without the as cap on, changed the petcock and made sure the tank hole was free and clear...yet...at 50...drains the bowl!

Im hoping someone out there has had the same thing happen, and solved it... Im not the only one, several folks have wrote me saying the same thing...

Re: CALLING ALL FAST HOBBIT EXPERTS

You need a Black Widow fuel valve...Da Cat

Re: CALLING ALL FAST HOBBIT EXPERTS

Dude, I have the same problem on my kitted hobbit. Runs all the fuel out of the lines and just can't flow enough. I've cleaned the hell out of the carb including the bowl vent. I've run different caps. I actually lost a gas cap at Flock Yeah after running the carb out of gas and stalling. I just bought a new needle to try out, hoping that will fix the problem.

Re: CALLING ALL FAST HOBBIT EXPERTS

Up jet?

Re: CALLING ALL FAST HOBBIT EXPERTS

loss of compression? look at the wiki on resurfacing the head.

Re: CALLING ALL FAST HOBBIT EXPERTS

Where do you get this valve?

Re: CALLING ALL FAST HOBBIT EXPERTS

Ok, someone told me to take the screen off the petcock, that will help the flow...worth a shot!

Re: CALLING ALL FAST HOBBIT EXPERTS

do you still have the original petcock? get this one, i put it on mine and it flows super fast.

Re: CALLING ALL FAST HOBBIT EXPERTS

bump

Re: CALLING ALL FAST HOBBIT EXPERTS

so what happened? did you take the screen out? is it still doing it?

Re: CALLING ALL FAST HOBBIT EXPERTS

Klen Kahdidlehopper /

if the engine is draining the carb and fuel lines and nothing is clogged then you must get horrible gas milage.

Re: CALLING ALL FAST HOBBIT EXPERTS

I'm using that treats petcock and I've used at least two different gas caps but I can't test the new float needle until I finish milling the head. I'll post the results when I get them.

Re: CALLING ALL FAST HOBBIT EXPERTS

I don't think that it is a float bowl fill problem.

From the sound of the actions I believe that the bike is running too rich at WOT and is 4 stroking until it slows down enough to clean out..

What jets do you have in the stock carb? What are you running for an air filter? Try running, temporarily, without the air filter to see if it runs cleaner.

What plug are you running and what does it look like?

Re: CALLING ALL FAST HOBBIT EXPERTS

as I stated before, I have been running the stock carb when it first happened, swithched to a PHBG, and it STILL happens.

I have removed the screen on the petcock, I have run it without a gas cap , NADA...still drains at highspeeds!

My RPMs are ripping fast until I reach 45 then it dies like no gas, cause I can see in the clear fuel line=no gas! then it fills up again and reapeats....

I would pay to find the answer at this point...someone please tell me a solution!

Re: CALLING ALL FAST HOBBIT EXPERTS

if you can see that there is no fuel flowing from the tank, then it has to be your petcock not flowing properly. so....

Re: CALLING ALL FAST HOBBIT EXPERTS

Change out the petcock and/or drill it out right?

DOne and Done... still the same

A fuel pump would be ideal...though Im thinking of taking the petcock off alltogether and going shotgun into the carb...
