Help with my Tomos

So I just got my 2005 Tomos ST. I'm leaning towards a tecnigas next exhaust. I want to get a kit but dont know which one to get or how difficult it would be to install. I read about the jet but I really dont know what that mean because I'm new to this.

Also, I want to install a brighter head light but dont know where to start with that.

let the wiki be your guide.

you'll find everything you need and more in the wiki.

Re: Help with my Tomos

Okay, first, start with the exhaust. If you like the Technigas, go for it. As far as I know that's a perfectly fine pipe (but you could search the forums for reviews of it if you want). Wait on the kit for now until you get some experience tuning your moped. Kits are more expensive and easier to screw up than a pipe, and you're going to want the pipe when you get a kit anyway.

A jet is a small metal screw with a hole in it that goes in your carburetor. The hole in the jet controls the amount of fuel going into your engine, usually at 3/4 to full throttle. Jets are numbered according to the size of the hole -- a 50 jet is going to have a smaller hole than a 70 jet. When you add performance parts to your moped, you generally increase the amount of air flowing through the moped. You need to maintain the proper air to fuel ratio to keep your moped happy. Because you increased the amount of air, you also need to increase the amount of fuel. You do this by putting in a larger jet than the one that's in your moped. There's a ton more info about all this in the wiki, so continue reading over there.

I dunno where you'd start with the brighter headlight either. As far as I know, you've got a 12v system and CDI ... those are the things that the rest of us add to our mopeds to make our lights brighter (Someone correct me if I'm wrong, though). It's possible you could change out your light for a different kind of bulb, or a spotlight or something (and that would be easier for you since most of those are for 12v systems), but I'm the wrong person to ask about that.

You might try the 35/35 W bulb that they use in the Streetmates & Revivals. Yours is a 25/25 watt.

Help with my Tomos

Thanks for all help guys. I just ordered that 35/35 light. Hopefully that will let me see the road a bit more at night.

What would be a good jet size when I put my exhaust on. Something in the 60s?

Re: Help with my Tomos

Order a range of 1-4 sizes bigger than whatever you have in your carb right now. Start big, work your way down.

Re: Help with my Tomos

All the websites that sell jets want to charge me 30 bucks for shipping!

Maybe the scooter shop down the road can order some.

Re: Help with my Tomos

some dirt bike shops may have some. just order from treats.

and i just put a 9005 car high beam into my tomos. not for your first mod, but not too hard either.

Re: Help with my Tomos

I ordered a air filter from treats but they are out sock on all the jets I need.

Re: Help with my Tomos

How hard would it be to install an 65cc airsal kit

Re: Help with my Tomos

It's not hard at all. Remove old put on new..basics that's all. I have some 50's range dellorto's if that's what you are looking for..#'s 50-52-54-58-59..

Re: Help with my Tomos

Wow... Are you on the north shore of Kauai? That is pretty remote in finding parts and I think it's pretty rare to find a Tomos in Hawaii and in Kauai. Get the technigas, free flow intake and get a jet at .59 mm which I think is a #56 main jet for a SHA.

Re: Help with my Tomos

Yeah I'm on the north shore of Kauai. I found the Tomos in lihue for 500 bucks.

I was thinking about getting a jet in the 60s range.
