looks Fast!
looks fast, but it doesn't look like 50 to me.
Yep them Chinese Kstars are fast as hell!
this vid sucks I just looked at it its all jumpy BAD EXAMPLE ! i will see if I can do better
Man you knows its.. down south.,... fucking flat not one dam hill...
Btw, Super nice sounds.. through the rpms.. rebuilt engine?
O I spoke to soon ...:)
wow.. I can't wait to build a puch for .. top end..
very nice how much do those kits run
70 bucks at the moped disco.
Zero torque though, and I love torque. A good top end cylinder, though.
R/J, what carb are you running on yours? i have one of them 60cc euro kits and i usto run a 16 sha on it and it had no low end at all. i switched to a mikuni vm18 and its pulls like hell and has alot better top end. if you are runnin a sha you should look into a vm16
Im running a 14mm carb with 15mm intake, 68jet , and a Kstar 50cc kit, this kit 89 bucks from treats, it has a huge booster port in the piston its a little slow on the take off but makes up for it when you get into the power band it just plain flies well worth the money , i put it on a 2hp high torque engine which may have made a difference in performance
omg, this is stupid. Kstars have lots of torque.
@ Blasto - My Kstar doesn't have torque, but to be honest, I didn't give it a fair attempt. No case matching. I used a 15bing and a Boss pipe with a high comp head, and the thing was a dog, barely making enough power to get into second gear, but eventually it would wind way out. I wanted easy torque for my big fat wife to get pushed up hill, and I didn't find it, but I didn't spend much time looking for it either.
@ Dan T - By the way, the boost port in the piston window doesn't do anything, but it does look cool. It never is exposed to the intake window.
"I wanted easy torque for my big fat wife to get pushed up hill." LMAO
Dan T, nice moves going into the driveway at 3:45+. I was worried you were gonna hit the cars, and then you pulled right by them, in between a garbage can, right into the garage.
if it doesnt do anything (piston booster port) then please pray tell when the piston is put in upside down does the engine not run at all, if it did nothing then it should still run , and yes I went out and did just that, I turned my piston around to see ,and guess
what ?she no run , so it is the opinion of this court that yes the piston port not only does something it does it well , defense rests its case your Honor
GPS'd the same kit @ 36mph but I was'nt really pushing it (break in)
This is what 50 looks like.
That speedo is fairly accurate.
Did 50 next to my buddie with a gps going the same speed and was doing 51
I have adjusted the needle to be about 1 mile an hour under 0 when stopped and now reads correct
my experience with the kstar = no torque as well.
14mm? 15 or 16 would get more rip.
put a15.15 sha on it, then you might have some torque.
back to the K-star I run a 15:15 sha and I just gpsed @39.1mph its only my second day of break in
The piston window doesn't have to be effective right side up to screw you up when it's upside down. Although in my understanding boost ports can just be recesses in the cylinder wall and don't necessarily connect to the intake port, so the window doesn't have to cross the intake to be effective.
I have the same kit with a 14 bing and boss pipe that I have gotten up to 41 on flat ground measured with my cyclometer. I have about 150ish miles on the kit.
that's good, but not awesome, you aren't maxing it out yet? i hear those kits rip. i go about that fast on my port matched hi torque head. it's on a za50. 14mm bing. and my custom pipe made from two cigars w/ magnum header.
if you count the seconds between telephone poles you will see we are going about the same speed
The window on the 50 Kstar does nothing except possibly help lubricate the cylinder wall. Piston's with holes such as the one on the 50 kstar need ports cut in the wall above the intake port to be effective. Look at the ports on a 70 kstar or the old 50 TCCD to see what I'm talking about.
The reason it won't run with the piston upside down is because the hole in the piston is opening the exhaust port to the crankcase near TDC.
I'm guessing if you wanted to take advantage of the hole in the piston you could probably cut some boost ports into the cylinder wall.
the 50cc kstar can rip if u put it together and tune it properly. they can also have lots of torque, don't be scared off by the 50cc
and of course the people who make the ported piston spent millions on research and development with the knowledge that it does nothing --I think Not!!
