Ive ordered a 21mm PHGB. 21mm intake. K-star 70. Boss pipe. What jets should I get? Parts take 2 weeks to get to me, so Id love to cover my basis. Give me a general idea?

I'd say in the upper 80's for the main, mid-upper 40's on the pilot. Needle probably 3rd from top.
This would at least get you going, i'd err on the side of too rich.
ive got 19 mm dell kstar proma gp. 85 42 2nd position. is that helps any
oh also, get a good filter. it makes alllllllll the difference
hey mike: what filter are you running?
my new ped has a 65 metra, a 21mm phbg, boss, yeah yeah yeah, and i am having a killer time tuning it [no low end at all]. it even seems to be way rich with a 35 idle jet. i am running the malossi 90 degree e8 filter, and i am feeling like it might be gasping for air. your opinions?
Lean idle jet does that too. Did you work your way down through every jet size to get there? Also where is your needle and what is your timing like... Peter did mine at 1.75mm btdc and business card set points. My low end was balls and after that it crushes. What pipe are you runnin?
same as yours. you need a bigger idle jet. that bog is a lean bog, remember if youre too rich youll hear and feel four strokage. have you tuned your clutch at all? ive got a two shoe with blue springs 690 dgrees in. with more power from the bigger carb it makes it slip amazingly. i eat hills for breakfast. go rich on your main jet and figure out your idle, thats where the fun is.
mike, this may be completely dumb but i put a high comp head on my tomos and it 4 stroked at the top, so i upjetted and it stopped? i thought 4 stroke=too little air (prob the same as too rich right?) so why would upjetting solve it?
weird. four stroking is too little air, same as too rich. but it sounds lik eyou have a lean bog, where it sounds like the carb is playing in too low of a key and unresponsive. fourstrokin will still have power but will feel like its jumping every stroke. if you are doing this without the airfilter, throw the airfilter on. if you are doing it with the filter, raise your needle and upjet. find the fourstroke point and work down until it aint. then if youre balllsy go down two jet sizes. adjust your mixture screw and idle jet as need be. make sure to set the idle after its warm. my bike revs to the sky when it first starts, but a couple blips of the throttle and itll idle down. have your kill switch handy so you dont rev to the sky next to an old lady in a parking lot (oops).
heres what the setup WAS when it stroked
stock filter
14.12 with a 58 jet
high comp head, new piston rings
biturbo
AND
50:1 mix in the tank and the injection (also 50:1) hooked up because i was trying to make that work and bleed the air out of the lines.
i have since took the airbox off, 62 jet i think, and taken the injection out completely.
before, right at the top end id stroke, and a little throttle play would "fix" it. but an e50 with a top end bog would leave me behind both off the line and in top speed.
doesnt now tho ;)
oh i was talking about phbgs on kits.
one jet carbs are easy. just go down like two jets from fourstroke and fuck with the needle.
Another thing I wanted to know...Does the PHGB come with stock jets? I have no idea, do you?
Are the main & pilot jets the same fitting? Idle is a different shaped jet alltogether?
I noticed whilst shopping on treats, that you can buy "main jet" sizes & idle. Theres no option for pilot. Im geussing pilot & main are the same fit?
Thanks
I'm having jetting issues too. I'm running an athena 50cc, a techno estoril, and a 19mm dellorto. It came stock with an 86 main jet, and a 60 idle. I was told I would have to down jet the idle. Any idea how low? I ordered some from treats, to try it out, but a general idea would be nice. I've got the main jet at 84 right now.
Louis - your idle jet wasn't a 60, that's your choke jet. they are always 60 and don't effect much of anything. the idle jet is the smallest one in between the two others.
oh! thanks Joey. I'll have to check it out today. Any jet size suggestions then?
