I've seen a few sites that carry tires and belts for a '78 Honda Hobbit, but I wanted to get yalls opinion on this..
Is there such thing as a performance belt?
What are the best tires and size?
Where should I get this stuff?
THANKS a lot!

2.5 will fit in the rear but not in the front if you plan on running a stock fender you need 2.25's for that. other than that any tires will work. I like zapps for my daily bikes. cheap and usually available at the local metric bike shop.
I use bikebandit.com they are pretty cheep on tires but they charge u extra for shipping. They should also have the belt but it will be stock and probably a little pricy. Try treats for a belt they should be more reasonably priced.
I never run fenders of any kind. extra weight not needed. I think if you tear off all the fenders you can run 2.75. I havent put tires on my hobbit yet, but I always use the widest tires i can jam on
O yea that useless front fender just blocking rocks and dust from getting flung right towards your face and air intake. But instead put huge tires on because that isn't heavy and all that added rotational inertia won't fuck your acceleration.
yeah, i debated on removing the fenders. hmmm, they don't seem that heavy......
THOUGHTS?
Leave the front fender and get 2.25 tires for both wheels. Are those 17" wheels? Then get michelin gazzeles from motorcyclesuperstore or the GP1 from treats. If its 16 there are pirellis and savas and more.
yeah, they're 17". Those Michelins look nice. How much are yall paying to have tires mounted, front and rear?
Nevermind, just found the DIY video.
I've had a bike shop do it for $5 or $10, but you can do it yourself though you might want to get an extra tube the first time. Unless you have mags, make sure there is a rim strip. A motorcycle shop will want to charge you $30+ which is absurd.
+1 on the extra tube if its the first time you do it and its always nice to be able to change a flat in the same day when you have an extra.
Also, get some tire irons, 2 should do, they are extremely useful!!
I'm running some sava 2.25x17 slicks.. not the highest quality but better than the made in china $10 shit found online.
Treats lists a belt for the Hobbit
I run 2.50 gazelles on the front of my hobbit. I just slowly worked the fender outward all the way around with tire irons and pliers. I just kept rotating the front wheel to make sure I was on track. I protected the paint. It can be done you just have some patience. One thing though, if your running original spokes the wheel better be true or it won't work. I've mounted up a set of grimeca mags that are straight as an arrow.
hey JB, what length shocks are on the hobbit in your profile?
Those are 300mm from treats
