Re: look what just came in!

this is the perfect 62 malossi replacement kit. (cuz malossi decided not to make anymore of that great little kit)

Its 70cc and the ports are a bit milder than the 70 parma kit. so it should be able to be run with just a sha with great success, unlike the parma which tends to not like the sha setup when performance pipes are introduced. This forces most to go for a big phbg super setups geared towards max possible performance with all the bells and whistles as well as all the trials and tribulation. but not everyone is looking for super av7 setups sometimes u just want a faster, reliable bike thats more fun to ride. just like the 62 malossi kit was the answer for those enthusiasts the 70 athena is shaping up to be the new 62 malossi kit for the ppl.

I have only seen the kit so I won't get into it too much here, but I can't wait to try it out with a 15sha, shorty intake, variplus, ninja setup.

Its great to see another av7 kit on the market again, and even better that its appropriately ported for milder setups. I just had a romp on my 62 malossi moby yesterday aka the "ppls champ", its been aroud the block a few times and is pretty beat but solid. Still one of my all time favorite bikes to ride. Expect a full review soon of this sweet new addition to the growing av7 performance world. I'm gonna take it head to head with my trusty old but still blastin malossi 62 and maybe a parma if I get my hands on one.

Re: look what just came in!

good comparison shots of the 2 options out there right now, while the pics of the 2 kits rn't that great u can see the parma has alot larger ports (u can't see the exhaust but its big and the piston timing is off with it) but thats also why the kit responds poorly to milder setups that don't allow the kit to move the volume it wants too especially at lower rpms.

full 70 parma review here: http://www.mopedarmy.com/forums/discuss/read.php?f=7&i=95477&t=81479

its great kit but not for me.

i'd rather a the milder malossi 62 (argh why did u leave us!!!!!) on the ppls champ or an av10 superblaster (basiaclly only gonna cost u $100 more for cases etc.) then the parma 70.

again like I said b4 I'm super excited about this bolt and go av7 kit. light fast reliable setups is just what the moby world needs, bring back the maossi 62!!!!!

Re: look what just came in!

those airsal kits are cool if you wanna go 40.

the malossi dusts it, and the parma vaporizes it.

Re: look what just came in!

That might be just the thing for this guy:

Re: look what just came in!

Haha, awesome Bret. Dang, my grass was long. How's that project going? You need to come here and buy all my Moby stuff.

Re: look what just came in!

i've also heard airsal sucks. compared to parma . spend 20 bucks extra on a phbg for extra speed and performance or go 40 .

Re: look what just came in!

I found tires through JC Whiteney, much to my surprise, but then they only shipped one and the other is on back order. Oh well. i was waiting to to build it slow and right, but i think i'm going to tool around on it for a bit before i tear down for refinishing.

Re: look what just came in!

I had this kit and then I sold it for 50 bucks. The transfers are about the size of stock.

Re: look what just came in!

Dudes the airsal kit will obviously go faster than 40, fuckin haters.

We got this kit cuz the opportunity was there, sorry it coincided with the parma kit yall should just be happy there are av7 kits out there.

Re: look what just came in!

THIS WILL DUST ALL AV7 KITZ

Re: look what just came in!

What elliot says makes perfect sense to me. On a Minarelli i was running a 90cc kit with super huge ports and really aggressive timing paired with a big mikuni and a huge pipe. It was really fast and I ran it for a couple of years, but after having to replace crankshaft bearings, clutches, con rods, you name it, i decided a slightly smaller, 70cc kit was the way to go.

Unless you are looking to squeeze every last possible drop of speed out of a moped, it is not always necessary to have these crazy setups. The amount of stress it puts on the rest of the engine and bike make for a lot of continued maintenance. After my experiences, I almost always recommend people to get smaller kits over larger unless they want the added hassle of maintaining the larger kits.

Either way, going from 30mph to 40mph is still a 30% speed increase, which is remarkable and where you feel the biggest improvement.

Its to bad people can't get excited about newly available moped products. It's like you take this shit for granted.

Re: look what just came in!

We do take this shit for granted!

That's pretty sweet that two of the three 70cc av7 kits are available now!

They are actually 74cc. The biggest available.

Re: look what just came in!

Actually Metrakit made a 65 cast iron kit too once, but i've never heard of anyone with one.

Re: look what just came in!

Autisa also made a 70cc kit.

Re: look what just came in!

This is a new kit?

Re: look what just came in!

they are a way better deal from 77 than Junkyard that is for sure.

Re: look what just came in!

They have a cylinder diameter of 47mm?! That's news to me! With enough work these guys could scream!

Re: look what just came in!

is this a different kit that moped junkyard sells?

Re: look what just came in!

Dan Webber Kastner /

This is a different kit than the Moped Junkyard kit. It is a 47mm, instead of the 45mm.

This kit is new to the US.

The beginning of this thread reminds me of Chapelle Show.

hatehatehatehatehate.

Re: look what just came in!

really than wow! this is great! I thought this was the same one they carried.

Re: look what just came in!

Could somebody who's worked with the new kit post a review?

Also, the 1977 site says they're "bolt and go" . . . does that mean the transfers match stock? that would be nuts . . . how could it breathe . . .

Re: look what just came in!

the transfers don't match stock "bolt and go" does not mean that, it means that its an easy cylinder upgrade. Hell the stock cylinder transfers don't match the stock cases at all.

for example in the puch world a 70cc or 50cc tccd kit is a bolt and go kit where as the 80 metra large port is not, polini is debatable but leaning towards not just bolt and go. it more about the complexity of tuning and installation combined.

at least that my interpretation of it.

Re: look what just came in!

So, anybody running this kit yet?

Re: look what just came in!

I AM SO HOT RIGHT NOW.

please tell me how it runs.

Re: look what just came in!

yeah, as far as i understand 'bolt and go' means you don't have to bore the case out to accept a bigger skirt, port matching is always optional.
