did anyone else have this problem at first? if so, what measures did you take to change this?

make sure you are grounded really well. that thing should be blazing.
Is the black wire with white stripe maybe a ground wire?? this is one that is loose and coming off of the voltage regulator box, I just got one of these used and I'm trying to get it to work.
Never had that problem. Thing has always shocked the fuck outta me.
sounds like you got it figured out, cookie? now for my question, mijunk, what does the black wire with white stripe off of the voltage reg. do? Did you ground it? or plug it into your butt? I was trying to kick it over without that wire going to anything, then I tried to ground it, my roomate thought he saw a spark with it grounded, then after that nothing...... I've checked the two big hpi threads, all that was really talked about was that damn lighting coil piece of shiaaat, and setting the right timing position.
probably not much help, but with the garelli cdi.... i had to snip and restrip some of the wires to get a strong spark
solved my problems
had a sturdy ground too and started running BR7HS plugs
thanks but no thanks I'll just make a new thread.
Go to HPI website and follow the wiring directions I'm running two of these and each time I had a problem I would start from scratch with wiring and grounding problems solved
ok thanks sorry fo doggin tomtom
Doug, the black and white wire from the box is your kill switch hook up. If you ground it, it'll have no spark.
mike
Ground?... I haven't grounded anything. Isn't your spark plug the ground?
the ignition coil. there should be a ground or two there running to lights etc. the coil its self if has a metal piece on the outside that mounts to the fram thats your main ground. check your wires.
doggin, phhht... its the internet
