Puch Magnum Exhaust Pipe...

What is the best performance exhaust pipe for a 1979 puch mag? Its all stock. Will just adding a pipe be a good first upgrade to do to this bike? I added a pipe to a stock hobbit and it is awesome!

Re: Puch Magnum Exhaust Pipe...

tecno boss. I've heard good things, and once i get some monies, after much debate, i've decided to get one. Cheap and has good top end.

Re: Puch Magnum Exhaust Pipe...

you will have to hack and weld whatever you get.

Re: Puch Magnum Exhaust Pipe...

really? the hobbit pipe was so easy to put on. Not the same with puch mags?

Re: Puch Magnum Exhaust Pipe...

Almost all puch pipes are meant for flat port cylinders (maxi Newport etc). The magnum jug has an angled exhaust port so you'll have to cut and weld. I'd go with a proma circuit for the best all around lowish pipe, stock jug and kitted, naw mean? Boss does have the biggest headed of all cheap puch pipes, but is somewhat cheaply built with riveted on silencer. Sounds bad ass on a kit tho. Also, look at the wiki, please

Re: Puch Magnum Exhaust Pipe...

I'd find a used Maxi top end for cheap and then you won't have to hack and weld. With the number of people who kit their puch's, there are shit loads of maxi top ends wasting away on people's shelves...

Motobee Goode /

^ true....or i'll sell you a pre-hack n welded boss (black) when I get back to the midwest at the end of May.

Re: Puch Magnum Exhaust Pipe...

Maxi ones fit without a hack job?

Re: Puch Magnum Exhaust Pipe...

i think your thinking of the bullet exhaust...poorly made. I've heard boss is made better and haven't heard about any issues with the scilencer, but correct me if i'm wrong.

Re: Puch Magnum Exhaust Pipe...

Painful: if you change the magnum cylinder for a maxi cylinder then you can use a maxi exhaust. A Magnum cylinder should be better than a maxi one. all you have to do is cut a little wedge out of the front of the pipe so that the flange angle matches that of the cylinder, make some orientation marks and take it to a muffler shop and have them weld it. take a little bit at a time until if fits nicely.
