I would much rather run a base gasket, so I'm gonna try and find something thinner than what I've been using. Pulled the cylinder last night and it's clear that the gasket never squished as tight as I thought. The carbon lip in the compression area has an extra millimeter at least in comparison to when I ran the polini base gasket. Definitely the source of my weaker compression I'd complained about close to a month ago. Ring seated perfectly with absolutely no signs of blow by.
